My wife and I recently completed the Fall Colours Hiking Tour with Gros Morne Adventures, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Our guide for the week, Kristen—one of the owners—was the heart and soul of our experience. From the moment we arrived, Kristen’s warm hospitality made everything effortless. She took care of every detail, from thoughtfully packing lunches and snacks for our daily hikes to leaving a basket of breakfast goodies in our cabin.

What made this trip truly special wasn’t just the breathtaking landscapes of Gros Morne National Park—though they were certainly remarkable—but the personal connections we made. Kristen shared so much of herself, her family, and her love for the community of Norris Point, where we stayed for most of the week. This added such depth to the experience, making it more than just a tour—it felt like being welcomed into a new community.

We were fortunate to explore incredible spots within the park like Western Brook Pond, Tablelands, and Gros Morne Mountain, as well as charming nearby communities like Rocky Harbour, Lobster Cove, and Woody Point. Our adventure culminated with a stay at the beautiful Hew & Draw Hotel in Corner Brook, where we enjoyed more hikes outside the park that were equally as stunning.

Kristen’s dedication to making this an unforgettable journey made all the difference. This was an experience of a lifetime, and we will cherish the memories forever. We can’t wait to return for the Long Range Traverse they offer!

An amazing 5 days. Our guides were first rate and also knew a great deal of the geology. The accommodations were excellent. The hikes and other tours were all fantastic as was the food, both at the base camp, the prepared lunches and at the local restaurants. A first rate experience! The owners are just wonderful people and so is everyone who works with them.

Very well organized, great guides, you get to see the western newfoundland nature and taste local food. As you would expect from an island in the Atlantic, food choices focus on gifts from the sea quite heavily. For me kayaking in the bay was a highlight of the whole trip. They are the only ones in the Gros Morne area who offer such an option. In general, great experience and team, highly recommend .

Highly recommend Gros Morne Adventures for both kayaking or private zodiac tour of Gros Morne and Norris Point. The crew were knowledgeable and accommodating to all our needs. We split our group into 3 double kayaks and a zodiac to catering to everyone’s level of adventure. We learned so much about the history and geology of the area and absorbed the natural beauty of the area. I highly recommended this trip.

Inconsistent and Disappointing Experience

We arrived at Norris Point excited to kayak in the beautiful bay, but our experience was far from enjoyable. Despite arriving at 2:40 pm, we were told we couldn't rent a boat because their last rental was at 2:30 pm, although their website stated the last rental was at 3:30 pm. There was also no signage to clarify this.

We decided to spend the night in Norris Point and returned the next morning at 10:30 am. We were informed that rentals would be limited to two hours and would end at 1:00 pm due to "something they had to do." We accepted this arrangement and, after a brief but helpful training session, we set out on the bay. However, about 45 minutes later, after the early morning tours were completed, we were approached by their staff on a speedboat. They informed us that we needed to cut our tour short by an hour due to moderate winds.

When we returned to the bay at noon, we noticed new signage indicating that boat rentals would close at 12:00 pm. When we arrived at the store they had verbally told us that they would close at 1:00 pm instead of 3:30pm again not posting any signage about this change in scheduling. This felt inconsiderate, as it seemed like our rental was cut short to accommodate their schedule rather than any genuine concern about safety or weather. They wanted to start their weekend early as they left soon after we docked which is very unprofessional.

Overall, this company appeared more concerned with their own convenience than with providing a good customer experience. I would suggest checking out the kayaking store across the bay that might have a more reliable and customer-focused service.

In spite of all this they did have nice kayaks and a great staff especially the young kid that answered all our questions. Hopefully they can improve their customer service and make their rentals more enjoyable.
