We were in St John's for our honeymoon and the boat tour with Iceberg Quest Ocean Tours was really one of the highlights of our trip. It was a bit late in the season (end of September) so we took the coastal tour and it was just amazing. Unique vintage point of the city and great views of the coast. Plus the crew was super nice and made sure we had a great time, especially Glenn, he's amazing !
You can tell the captain and his crew are professionals and not only made sure we had a good time but also made sure everyone was comfortable and returned safely home. If you're passing by St John's and are looking for one must activity, book a tour with them you won't regret it.
Oh and on top of all things, they made us honorary Newfoundlander or Screechers as they say !
Did I say Glenn is amazing, cause he really is !!

My experience goes to two parts:

1. There is no whale standing there and waiting for people to come over and then they show themselves. Seemed to me there was a radar and they could realize how many whales around. But to see them, is another story which mainly depends on your luck! I only saw some part of whales’ backs, THAT IS IT. However, there were white eagle we could saw far away which HAVING A PROFESSIONAL CAMERA COULD BE VERY HELPFUL. Also saw some puffins which were super cute, specifically when you see it beside whales!

2. Staff on board, super nice, welcome and provided fun atmosphere during one-hour tour. They explained history of city and all facilities at harbor. Patiently helped kids and senior people. By the way, 95$ is the fee before tax : )

As a conclusion, to see whales as expected, seems different tours have to be taken @ different times, @ different places, with different companies.

Very accommodating and friendly! We booked two hours before the 2 PM boat and were welcomed aboard. There was a brief safety demonstration beforehand. They took us much past the port, where we saw about 15 whales. They pointed out a mother whale teaching her baby how to hunt fish along the shoreline ? it was very cute! We also got a history lesson about the use of the port during the war. The crew members did an excellent job, and I’d definitely come back for another tour.

Captain Mike, Wayne, Glenn and the entire crew were great! It felt like we were out with friends. Everyone was very personable and relaxed. We were lucky enough to see three humpback whales and a bunch of puffins. Captain Mike, Wayne and Glenn all did their best to ensure all guests had a chance to try to see the whales when they were visible and told us what to look for. Beautiful views of Cape Spear, St John’s harbour and Cabot Tower/Signal Hill. Getting screeched in at sea was an added fun bonus!

Amazing experience! We saw several whales up close, including a mother and calf pair. The crew was knowledgeable and friendly, and they did a great job of finding the whales while respecting their habitat. The boat was clean and comfortable, and the ride was smooth. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting St. John's."
