Where do I even begin to describe this saga… we booked a room at the Flamingo Inn for three nights for a field research trip. Upon checking in, we peeled up the sheets and inspected the creases of the mattresses for bed bugs. While we didn’t find any bugs themselves (they are nocturnal), we did come across small yellow crusts that looked like they might be bug molts - as well as small reddish stains like the kind you get when bugs are squished. We decided not to risk it, and found an excellent place to camp down the road. At the front desk about two hours later, I asked if we could check out and get a refund for the room since we would not be using it. The staff were unable to issue a refund because the booker (our lab advisor) was not physically present on the trip with his ID. So we said okay, we’ll use the room to shower in the evenings after getting back from field work. This was fine for two nights. Then yesterday, covered in dirt, I swiped into the room for a shower only to find - a stranger lying in the bed! They had checked us out without notifying us and checked in a new guest, but not revoked our swipe access! Which makes me wonder and worry about the security of the rooms in general. At least they issued us a refund for this final night. I have stayed at some crusty motels before, but the experience with service here was a new low. Save yourself the trouble and sleep elsewhere.

For the restaurant, first time I ordered a clubhouse lots of turkey, second a bit less that's okay was still filling, this time one small thin slice of turkey and prob one piece of bacon broken in half, small fries, barely any mayo and then lots of lettuce. Feel ripped off it's ridiculous. My food was bought out way before my wife's food and wanted to eat with her but had to start eating my dinner due to fries getting cold, asked for no gravy but got gravy and was charged for it, I asked for brown bread but got white, which I'm diabetic and don't really like eating processed white bread, I wanted to tell the waiter but it looked very short staff so I just ate it to not cause problems for them. I know kitchens get slammed but that's not excuse for food being that way or coming out like that, being a chef and working busy weekends by myself I don't see why things are timed and done accordingly, if I have to wait for my food a bit longer that's fine but bringing out my food 15-20 min before anyone else at the table is just not right and standard and no reason to skimp out on the ingredients, I'd rather pay the $1 - $2 extra then getting a sandwich like that.

I only ate at the restaurant. Food is great, service is great. Excessive use of plastic straws in drinks. Even when I ask for no straw I get a straw, times are changing and it would be great to see every one doing their part.

We came here to eat at their restaurant. I chose fish and fries. It was delicious, crunchy fries and salty, and a good portion. My kids chose grilled cheese and they loved it. The service was fast and great. The workers were super nice and warm. The prices are reasonable. Highly recommended!

The service at the front desk left a lot to be desired. I felt like I was inconveniencing the gentlemen at the front desk just by being there. The room was ok. I didn't mind it at first, but the satellite TV (which I was given a special remote for at check in)... did not work at all. There was also garbage in the corner of the bathroom (in a somewhat inconspicuous spot, but easily seen while standing in the shower). Also didn't help that throughout the night, my room would be filled with cigarette smoke from the guy living in the room next to me smoking right by my door. All of that and the kids screaming and making noise until midnight kind of sealed the deal for me. I checked out in the morning.

I want to share my experience at the restaurant
There were flies everywhere
They landed on our food ,drinks on us
All we did was try to hit away those flies
Told the clerk at the front and the waitress about the flies
They said they can’t do anything about it
Still had to pay for our supper
What a horrible experience
And this is in Canada up North in High Level
I surly don’t recommend anyone to eat there
Just imagine all the flies in the kitchen area where they cook and serve food and drinks to us the customer
We left the restaurant
Never returning ever!
A big awful experience
Slapping away the flies in there
Not a clean area
Health hazard in there

Food was cold, baked potatoes n vegetables where uncooked, only thing was good was the drink. Since their main cook left, food isn't good anymore. Never going there Again, service slow, uncleaned tables,

Good food and good Price.! They are super busy but food came really fast. They have a good selection on their breakfast menu! Our server was a little slow but it is understandable as they are really busy. We will diffinitely come back for lunch on our next visit. Thank you Flamingo!
