We were lucky to get onto Mel from Down East Tours after getting off the ship as Mel had a cancellation that day & we wanted to go to Oak Island. Mel was able to tailor a guided tour for us to Oak Island & surrounding areas. He is very knowledgeable in the Halifax, Mahon Bay area & a great ambassador for the Nova Scotia area. We had the best tour & absolutely made our day. We would highly recommend Mel for any private tour. Thanks a lot Mel.

One of the finest tours I have ever taken. Mel is a superb guide and a truly wonderful person. From the moment you meet him you know his main priority is you: your welfare and satisfaction. We were a group of 4 seniors, traveling very comfortably in a Dodge Van. We never knew what surprises Mel would bring us during our 9 day tour of Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. One day it was fresh picked plums and tomatoes from the wayside stands, apples or unique baked goods from the area. When weather determined a whale watch could not take place, Mel found an eagle watching boat tour instead. Mel made sure our days were filled with laughter, great sights and sounds, live music, terrific eats, and incredible memories. Down East Tours deserves every kudo imaginable, and it is due to its owner/guide Mel.

Mel did a great job taking us around to the wineries, cideries, and distilleries of the Annapolis region in Nova Scotia! He was also very informative and educated us in so many details about the Titanic and how Nova Scotia helped in the recovery efforts! He will customize any tour or activity you wish, and we would like to go back and have him take us fishing among other activities! Mel was very professional, friendly, knew his stuff, and showed us a great day!

Unforgettable experience, would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Halifax. Mel was a fantastic tour guide and really went the extra mile to give us the best experience possible, even changing our booking time to accommodate our flight arriving later than expected. The tour vehicle was also very comfortable which made the whole experience more enjoyable. Will definitely book another tour next time we are there to try one of the other tours Mel offers.

My wife and I did three tours with Mel and thought he was excellent. Each tour was adaptable to what we wanted to see. I LOVED the bay of Fundy tour. Seeing the extreme tide was fascinating. My wife loved Lunenberg and the many older buildings. When it came time for food, Mel took us to "local" places with good food and reasonable prices. He even arranged for good weather. All in all an excellent time.
