Visited right at the Opening 2 families of 6. Authentic trains, neat little gift shop for the kids in the little train stationed; Air Conditioned. Self-guided tour, they provide flyers /,brochures/ map of everything.

Train was cool, they had the caboose with the train this time.

And there was juice & cookies for the kids in the diner car; A/C Conditioned

overall great experience for adults and kids. Will keep this in mind on the next road trip

We were driving along the highway when we saw the sign for this railway museum and had to go see it. This museum did not disappoint. Many museums have steam trains, but this one has an early ALCO diesel electric engine. Enjoyed the trail ride with the family and then to see the displays of cabooses, snow plow, some tractors and Alberta what pool grain elevator.
The staff were friendly and helpful as we did not know what to expect when we arrived, but we did arrive just prior to the Jay train ride for the day. They helped us to get tickets and then to board the train. After the ride they have us a tour of some of the other real cars that were not being used and are under restoration currently.
While we were looking at the other static displays, including an old one room schoolhouse, the staff came and talked to us about them as well, including their history and done stories to go along with them. They spent quite a bit of time with us and our kids and were extremely helpful.
We have been to many railway museums and try to stop at all that we can. This one, although a bit out of the way and although I had not heard of it, was a great experience too. I would highly recommend stopping here if you are able to.

Small museum, but has some nice charm to it. One of the highlights is they have an operational locomotive and actually give rides. It’s getting harder to find old equipment that still runs these days, so this is bit of a treat.

Beautiful place rich with history. Staff were extra friendly and went the extra mile for us answering questions and interacting with the public creating a unique, great feeling experience of yesterday. The train ride was worth it and really neat. Alot of the buildings have been restored to show how they would have operated. My only wish is we had more time to explore! The rates were affordable and so was the merchandise in the gift shop. Great way to step back in time for an outting with your family. We will definately be back. 10 out of 10. Thank you for the memorable experience.

A bit far from Red Deer but worth the drive. If you like museums and places like Heritage Park, then you will enjoy this place. Our kids (4-11) mostly just liked the train ride which was $4 ea so easy on the wallet 🙂

The staff are great. The times that we have been they have gone out of their way to welcome us. My boys (4&2) love it here. Bill started building the railway and station for his wife and it just blossomed. Sure the place isn't as polished as a provincial museum but this is the labour of one man and some good ol' prairie neighborly help.

Bring a picnic, take a train ride, sit in the corner with a dunce cap in an old schoolhouse, look inside an old grain elevator, and climb aboard a caboose and other train cars. Talk with Bill or Doreen, they are very friendly and have much to tell.

Many people are in and out quickly but we make a day of it when we go. Take your time, explore, and enjoy your day.

Well preserved railways rolling stock including a snowplow, 2 caboose's and a work car which was converted to a cafe for cookies, coffee and juice after a short trip on an original self powered day liner car. The grain elevator is still standing and open for self guided tours as are some other buildings including a one room school house. The e train ride was a short loop, but authentic. It's like a model railroad display you would see but in full scale. Well worth the small cost to come and see the site.

Taught my nephews that a kaboose is the "train's butt". Their parents didn't think it was as funny as I did.
