Rooms are dated but let's be honest, we all have enough trouble budgeting decor updates in our OWN HOMES, let alone trying to budget in a post Covid redecorate of dozens of rooms. So I wanted to get out of the way what my first reaction was upon opening the door but now let's move on to everything awesome.
I was looking for a pet friendly hotel in a safely lit part of town within my budget and with easy parking. I wasn't kicking up my luxury heals on a holiday, I was just looking for a fatigue weary stop each night on my 6.5 hours each way journey from home during a work week. This place caught my eye based upon online reviews and Expedia rated budget. I booked with them directly, however, as online really only tells you if they ARE pet friendly, not if they have availability of those set aside specific rooms. Besides, storms happen and if I had to cancel last minute due to a storm, online booking isn't your friend, booking directly with the hotel is.
So I call. I spoke with a lovely lady named Faith. She had this sweet voice that resonated her smile through the phone lines. I did not feel as if I was bothering her even one iota by asking her if she could price match, by asking for pet friendly, by asking for rough landmark directions over and above address. She answered all my questions with a smile that could have won her employment in the days of Anne of Green Gables! This may not seem important but it IS. I hate dealing with employees who make me feel like I'm interupting their wheel watching on the Price is Right or something. Therefore, on top of Expedia posted rates and customer reviews, we now also had Faith, representative extraordinaire!
The height of the beds was also pet friendly. Personally, I love tall beds, fluffy beds, beds so overwhelmed with pillows that I drown in them. My 15 lb dog, however, likes to get on and off the bed in the night and I like him to do that WITHOUT waking me up if he can. These beds were the perfect height for that. His satisfaction meant more uninterrupted sleep for me. Win win.
The rooms did have a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TV and plenty of window or lamp lighting available to suit your mood. My dog wanted cold water ... and under my blankets with me ... and to sit beside me on the couch ... and to eat some of my leftover veggies. Turns out it was the dog that needed the fridge, the microwave, the TV, the lamps. He didn't use the coffee maker, though.
What I loved most, perhaps, though, was that the two pet friendly rooms they have available are on the far ends of the lower floor rooms. This means I can park my car, bring my stuff in through the end conveniently, take the dog in and out for walks, take my stuff back OUT to the car conveniently the next morning, all without having to go through the lobby (except check in and check out), lugging bags AND tripping over a pet leash down flights of stairs and hallways. If you're a senior, if you're exhausted, if you have mobility issues or small children or a very spoiled dog, these things are HUGE conveniences!!!
Another front desk attendant, Anne, was sweet, older, smiling and joyous. Then, on my checkout after my first night's stay, I met Sinesh. Sinesh treated me as if I were the queen herself back from the dead to spend a night in his hotel. The continental breakfast had a huge selection (waffles, muffins, various breads, multiple cereals and milks, porridge, jams, cheeses, peanut butter, butter, eggs, ham, beans, juices, teas, coffees, cold dispenses water and more) His smile was genuine, his curiosity over the satisfaction of my stay integral, his efficiency impeccable.
Definitely my go to WC stay spot w/pets now 👌🏻
