In Atikokan for work, and had the opportunity to have a private tour with the museums curator Lois. She was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and all around amazing tour guide. She also took the time to show our group a small documentary about the castle at white otter lake, and discuss other historical sites to visit in the area. All around a fantastic community museum and tour!

Driving between Thunder Bay and Fort Frances? Definitely worth a stop, my expectations were massively exceeded. My kids really enjoyed the museum and the treasure hunt. The staff were enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and shared the history of the area. Their technical knowledge of mining and the gold / iron mines of the area was impressive. The architectural models of power plants were very interesting. The canoe exhibits were a favourite with the kids. Don't miss it if you're driving through.

A wonderful museum full of history of Atikokan. The historian there Lois guided us through a tour very knowledgeable, Joan helps keep the records intact. Must see if you have time for a pleasant time for learning about history of this town.

Curator gave me an impromptu tour that was very interesting. The museum has a great variety of exhibits that are impressive for the size of the town! Looking forward to coming again soon!

My friends and I stopped in while visiting the town and had a great time. Atikokan has tons of interesting history and the museum does a great job of laying it all out. Lois, who looks after the museum, was incredibly friendly and clearly very passionate about sharing her love for Atikokan and area. If you're in Atikokan it's a must visit.

Great representation of the town's history. Patti gave us an excellent tour. This museum has a lot to offer and demonstrates a wide variety of aspects of the town's history very well.

The Atikokan Museum is a real treat! I find a new-to-me treasure every time i visit!
My favourite piece is the old fishing depth finder-it prints out the bottom on a roll of paper!!! Definitely a must see for all tourists-visitors & Atikokanites alike.
