We came out for just a weekend to explore the trails in the area. Very little information was shared with us about the place. Owner was quite rude to us upon arrival because we came earlier than expected(they didnt specify what early checkin was). We had no problem leaving to arrive later if it was a bother.
Location/beach/ lake was nice, but our cottage(the cedar) was old and run down. Maybe next time greet your guests with a smile, walk them through the features if the property and show them through the cottage? That seems like a minimum standard for a hotel.

Our family has been going here, first consistently and now the grown children when able, since about 2002.
Brian and his family have always been so very accommodating, reasonable, and progressive.
The location and accommodations are ideal for those whose focus is to have a relaxing time, disconnected if needed, but not isolated, and enjoy nature.
The beach on property is a great area for children, due to the gradual deepening of the gentle lake.

Nice place to fish and swim, but the cabin we stayed in was covered in cobwebs. Could've used a little more cleaning. Great location though, they have kayaks and boats available to use which is really fun. Just bring lots of bug spray because the black flies are unrelenting.

nice place and natural beauty. Only thing is too much mosquito. Keep mosquito repellent handy. A group can enjoy there as well as couples. Loved the boating and the owners are very helpful. Definitely recommend for every one

We take our extended family here for the past few years after we left Jackson's point off Lake Simcoe. Great place to bring family and friends. Relaxed, good quality camping. Note, you have to buy wood.

I grew up on woodlake from birth, as my family name goes back generations...to the start of one of the original 5 families there—-I know my opinion may be biased with my history but reading some of these comments mad me very upset. Take what I have to say as you may and i not everyone will agree.

I myself always like to look into the place i am travelling too—to find out the do’s and dont’s—-times that are good to go and to not. If you go on vacation to Mexico you look into the details right? So why not when you’re heading to Muskoka. Muskoka is a very well known place for camping—cottage summer vacation rentals etc. Muskoka is the very definition of wildlife—-wilderness—living the outdoor life—and getting a taste of the real outdoors...experiencing the simplicity of life.

When you go to a place surrounded by water and trees, no matter where you are you will get mosquitoes, spiders—AND spider webs, ants...you name..that’s a part of the outdoor life. Horseflies/black flies come at certain times on woodlake. They are not always there...just like there is a time for the wild turkeys and bears up there—a little bit of research would’ve given you that information.

Bob looks after and runs the lodge year round—he’s also grown up on that lake. He takes pride in that lake and the property it’s surrounded by...that is our home.

When I got engaged earlier this year...there was no doubt in my mind that woodlake ——The Caribou lodge was the place I wanted to get married. The history and the families on that lake always welcome everyone with open arms and welcome you to the woodlake family.

To hear anyone complain—especially about things that come with camping regardless of where you go makes me shake my head. That is not fair to put that on the lodge and drag their name threw the mud because of some bugs and cobwebs that I guarantee you have where or around where you live.

Go camping at a basic campground where you have to pitch a tent, surrounded by trees and tell me about the bugs then.

Say what you may, I don’t really care. I will defend my home any day, especially to those who can’t see the beauty in it.
