.. let's option into a political agenda that asks under qualified people to represent for them. If my experience was researched, I was in a newspaper when 10 years old, as a child prodigy for visual artistry. The town I resided in, chose to actually send me to an 84 year old woman that was a beautiful and famous local painter...but this resource center will have over 1000 general populace of it's own city, line up for a phony "juried art exhibition", you're "privileged to pay to participate in". The winners are already chosen before those 1000 people believe the competition is real, and line up. This is done through politics and agendas of the already rich. You can paint like DaVinci for instance, and they'll reject, spread rumours about you, and call you "libelous". There's like 5-1000 artists already vying for money for their art, and the nephew of an uncle who's finger broke, so the nephew painted it, all traumatized by his uncle's broken finger, is a story worth more for yuppies to celebrate, than a glorified artist in their blue period. For money and agenda. What you have is is a political affront with voting agenda, celebrating immigrants that paint like grade schooler's, with no substance or Soul, because they convinced other yuppies to be commissioned for an expensive mural. Then, they get the award for votes. So who's running the place?..It hires old and outdated artists to "teach", when they can't think or express our of the box. They literally allow the city to email artist's for positions that influence many other artists, and they are, truthfully, not qualified for the position. They celebrate 1000 artists that paint nothing original, but images that look like screensavers, and, they celebrate people whom have learned a little about "prefab abstracted media's" like "pouring", and call it great art. ..and, they're affiliated with several satellite affiliated organizations that option the cash lot to become members, a granted access of phony competition within several events these satellites provide, and trust me, it's always beneficial for the more rich, that's helping eachother become more rich at your contribution of expense, through the $$$fee$$$...
Go ahead, get yourself involved DaVinci, you're forgotten no matter how beautiful... "They want their hot tub, you're out of luck for that helicopter invention of yours, this time around"...

Only reason it is 3 stars is because we tried booking a birthday party for my daughter and after 6 weeks and 8 phone calls/messages no one returned our calls.

Have said that, I signed up for a pottery course and the teacher/price/space are amazing and well thought and great value for money. Welcoming and educational but free flow, as art should be!

An excellent facility.
We go there for CDEIC meetings.
The Centre is scheduled for a renovation for re-purposing the facility with more cultural activities and greater public access to new, creative resources.
I remember doing a school 'tour' of that building, in 1970, when it was the Oshawa Police Station, so, this building has been extensively repurposed before..
It's location and size will make it a great hub for all of the Arts, it can be used for workshop's, training/education, group meeting's etc.
I'm looking forward to the results of this latest proposal to re-purpose the Art's Resource Centre.

My daughter took a drama camp here over the summer. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. My 9 year old loved the camp.

There was more to the camp than just dance, drama, and singing. Some of the games the kids played were a little rough resulting in my daughter getting smashed in the face with a ball one day. They also went swimming and we're not permitted to stay behind and do fun stuff at the main building, so that penalized any kids not wanting to swim. We just picked her up early that day and it wasn't an issue.

Overall, my daughter had a lot of fun attending this camp. It has made her appreciate the arts more, and has inspired her to take more drama classes in the future.
