Maybe it is the nostalgia but I always prefer taking the ferry on vacation. I remember there being better food options as a kid, but that didn't affect my rating. It's a short 75 minute crossing. The crew do a fantastic job of loading / unloading. We showed up way too early for our return crossing and were put on the earlier ferry, which was nice. Nice views for the entire ride.

My favourite way to get to the island. Love the dog friendly space available now, they really thought of everything for it! My pup was a very happy traveler. Ice cream on board was great and if you’re looking for more of meal the cafeteria has excellent choices.

A monstrous price (~$90!) for a unique experience. They have an interesting system where you have to pay to reserve but it’s free if you just show up. Didn’t want to take the risk so I reserved, but turned out there was enough space for all. The staff directed us to park our wide SUV with the other passenger vehicles. It turned out to be a really really tight squeeze through the entrance and you could barely open the doors once you’re parked…

No issues. We didn’t have a reservation and came an hour before to reserve our spot. I wouldn’t take the chance in the on season or a few days later. The ride was very clean, beautiful clear day, lots of dogs on board and the staff was great at directing us. Best ferry experience.

Cute little ride, cafeteria was reasonable, lots of pics and views to be had on the short 30+ min ride...drive on , drive off...no issues... Tourist shops and attractions on both sides

We arrived an hour before our sail time. We didn’t have to wait long, they allowed us to drive into the boat just a few minutes after we arrived. Online said there is a 1-way free ride to PEI from Nova Scotia but not guaranteed. We opted to book online and paid the $84 reservation because we had an itinerary to follow and needed to be in PEI.
The ferry was clean. It had a restaurant on it, Salt Water Cafe, although we were told that there’s no full kitchen, so don’t expect fancy food. We ordered polish sausages and clam chowder soups because we wanted to eat something warm and not cold sandwiches. The food tasted good. It was not bad at all. Prices were reasonable. The dining area was clean. Staff were all friendly.
The trip was fun and fast. We even saw whales out in the ocean! It was so cool! We arrived in PEI sooner than we thought.
