I was admitted to Markdale hospital on Oct 27.2024 for a quadding accident. I dislocated my ankle and broke my tibia. I was in terrible excruciating pain and very scared when admitted. I was taken in by ambulance. I was also feeling some shock.
The nurses in this hospital are absolutely the RUDEST people I have ever met in healthcare. Their bedside manner is so disgusting. I was spoken to with ZERO compassion and was basically told to shut up not in those words when asking for some pain relief. I was basically made to shut up. I also was suffering terrible anxiety. I was also told many times how long they've been nurses. Maybe that's their problem they have zero compassion. I cried due to their behavior. I do want to note that the doctor that reset my ankle was a very nice man and I appreciated his demeanor in that terrible time.

I went to Cambridge Memorial Hospital the next day to fracture clinic and I was met with tons of compassionate nurses and doctors..it was night and day!!! They understood my feelings and concerns and made such a difference in my feelings.

If you can't be compassionate in this field then you shouldn't be in it. PERIOD.

I hope to never be in this hospital again!!!

I have been sick for 7 days, I waited 4 hours to be seen (that’s no problem I anticipate at least 3 because it’s emergency and I’m not an emergency case) but I don’t have a doctor and there are no local walk ins. I also have no wifi and limited reception at home so I can not always do online or virtual appointments.

I am in need of antibiotics so I can get on track to return to work. After a quick chat once finally seeing the doctor and a chest xray they had nothing more to say other than be sure I’m taking my vitamins.. (and I do) I knew this would be the case but everyone encouraged me to go see a doctor. I left very upset and so disappointed to be right back where I was. I was at least lucky to see the doctor who had appropriate footwear on - the other emerg doctor wearing flip flops makes me very uncomfortable (Seems to be normal for him tho)

Hate to be negative as there are a lot of friendly faces and kind people I dealt with here. I just don’t know how to get help if I can not get help from a doctor.

Have had good expiriences here, but a fair amount of bad ones aswell.
This time I Take my 5 month old daughter there for a cough that has lasted for over a week and sounds not nice.

The doctor decides to spends 5 minutes lecturing me about vaccines and all of 4 seconds to examine her. Yes very good use of time !
Goes on to say that non vaccinated kids get sick longer come on let’s use some basic logic, the vaccines are for a select few diseases , not a common cold/ flu virus .

His mood changes right away after asking if the child is fully up to date with vaccines.

Got a nasty infection in my face went there waited a few hours and was giving drugs and sent on my way, pain and swelling continued to get worse and worse. I went back the next morning waited 4 hours for a doctor to show up because I guess on the weekends they don't have enough staff to have a doctor there for emergencies. Was told I have herpies no test no new meds or anything just givwn a shot for pain and sent on my way. Next day the swelling had got to a point where my lip actually started to split open from the pressure they had me sit in a waiting room for hours, never even got seen by triage after hours of waiting with no one else waiting around me. Saw a nurse on a computer the entire time I waited. Was told it wouldn't be too long while my lip continued to get worse while I waited. Left the hospital went to mount Forest hospital got seen in a half hour was told I have two infections after the doctor ACTUALLY looked at my lip, gave me the correct meds for it and within a few hours the swelling stopped and began to reduce slowly but steadily. The markdale hospital is so inconsistent in its care for patients, it's troubling for our healthcare system when you can't even get the doctor to actually look at the issue and diagnose it correctly after 3 visits with the issue exponentially worse each time I went yet I was cared for less and less each time. If you couldn't see a problem with me physically I'd understand ignoring me, but my lip looks like a puffer fish it felt like someone was holding fire to my face clearly there is something very wrong here. Do not waste your time here go to mount Forest or literally anywhere else.

So I bring my one year old daughter there as i knew something was off with her because she wasn’t herself, and even when she’s sick she’s still the happiest girl and I had mom instinct that something just wasn’t right. So i bring her in and tell the doctors that something was off and tell them the symptoms, ALL THE DOCTOR TOLD ME WAS TO JUST “WATCH HER” and told me to have a good day! she went in with a fever of 36.8 and you just want me to watch her? i was pissed, i brought her into a clinic right after where the NURSE not even a doctor right away was asking questions and assessing her, the NURSE again not even a doctor then found ear infections in both of her ears and a bladder infection! This hospital was a waste of space and the doctors are just straight up ridiculous. They don’t care and if they don’t physically see anything wrong then they just determine nothings wrong with you. I will not return to this hospital!!

Shout out to all the doctors and nurses at the Markdale hospital. The care and compassion that the staff give to their patients is wonderful. They took me in right away and made sure every test was given to find out what was wrong with me. They even transported me by ambulance up to Owen Sound to find out the cause of my pain. They kept me comfortable and relaxed. They saved my life. I can't thank the doctors and nurses enough for the care they gave me. They saved my life. Thank you so much.

I'm sitting here in the lobby. Suspected heart attack and they have taken over 1.5 hours to ECG me so far. ECG are supposed to be done within 10 minutes of arriving at the hospital. If I was in serious trouble I'd be dead. Pathetic

We were there yesterday for my daughter. Hospital is brand new & staff was excellent. Doctor was quick also & she was able to give the medicine right away. Overall good experience.
