Mosquitoes mosquitoes mosquitoes! !!! the place was full of all types of bugs inside and outside which was very disgusting and annoying. we were not able to go outside to enjoy the weather or the view (of the water) because of all the bugs and disgusting environment. the sink was leaking for the whole time we were there and also there was either only hot water or cold at one time. the cottage was very hot and not airconditioned and when we asked for a fan Ken braught it on our last night staying there. Ken said that the place will have wifi and when we got there we realized that was just a big lie. and all the pictures on the website and ads are not the true image of the place as he only took pictures from few good Angeles .the boat didn't work most of the time and had to spend 30 min or so starting it everytime we used it. he asked us to fill up the boat with gas when we only used it for 20 minutes. the cottage was very dirty and disgusting and had dog hair all over the carpet and it smelled like dog pee. when we got there we asked him if we can please make the payment before we walk in and he didn't allow us to do so until the last minute we left the place which was very weird. the shower was very slippery and my brother in law ended up falling in the shower and hurting himself. the cottage also had no key that we could use to lock our belongings so we had to keep all our stuff in the car. the fan had no cover and Ken was also very unprofessional with his actions.

Where do i start with this unmanaged decaying fire hazard of a place . When we arrived on time Ken the owner was attemping to clean the cottage we finally told him to leave & we would finish it off ourselves when we noticed he was wipeing everything with one rag toilet , kitchen table didnt matter. After 3 hrs of pure filth cleaning we tried to relax ,but the cottage itself is ready for demo . Beds are horrible , shower wouldnt drain , no back on the 40 year old oven ( fire hazard)that didnt really work , fridge dripped water all over your food , doors didnt close so no locking doors & welcomed all the bugs in . It was a horrible stay so safe to say we left early & never to return .

We decided to spend a few days at this lodge as it looked nice and was pet-friendly. On arrival our lodge had just been cleaned which unfortunately could not hide the fact that the hut was pretty much run down with old furniture, broken floor and incomplete if not missing equipment (bought quite a few things ourselves). ||The owner is very friendly, provided firewood and helped us out with a few cans of been when on our arrival all shops had closed already (thanks Ken!). We hope that he will invest some money to renovate the place because apart from the accomodation things were great. ||We could use Ken's boats for free and went fishing almost every day. The fish stocks seem in good condition as we caught fish every day. There are some places worth a visit in the area around, like the silent lake national park and Haliburton forest.

Its a 6 bedroom, 3 bathroom cottage with a beach that shared between 2 cottages. Its a nice place to stay if you arent expecting the Hilton. It is a cottage in the wilderness. It has its quirks and its charms. We have been for the last 2 years and have not had an issue. We go with 2 other familes and have plenty of room with amenities as close as 3 mins drive without seeming that close. The cottage is about 50 metres from the road. This year we also met the Dockie Dee boy...nice touch!

This review is for ice fishing only.

We called Ken about a week before our trip to inquire about ice fishing. He was very friendly and answered all of my questions (confirmed that all equipment is provided and that there was no set time limit). He then booked us in for one of the ice fishing huts.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Ken and then introduced to Nick who is the ice fishing operator. Nick was also very friendly. He helped load our things into the trailer attached to his ATV and drove us to the hut (just down the road). He showed us how to use the equipment and let us know to reach out to him/Ken if we have any issues.

The hut was very cozy and warm thanks to the propane heating lamp. It had three fishing holes, folded chairs, and a padded bench. There were also two additonal holes outside that we were free to use.

About two hours in, Nick texted us to check in and see how we were doing which was a nice gesture we really appreciated. Six hours in and three perch later, we were ready to call it a day. Instead of calling Nick to pick us up, we left the fishing gear in the hut (as suggested by Nick) and walked the three minute walk back to the parking lot.

We had a pleasant conversation with Ken before we departed. Overall, we had a wonderful time and will definitely return!

We arrived to see a decapitated bunch of buildings including where the owner lives.||The window screens where torn, many I am sure building code issues, and I know there was no Covid sanitation done prior to our arrival. The girls swept the floors and came up with a dust pan of dirt and animal hair. The vacuum cleaner was so plugged and filthy it would not suck at all. The stove was another night mare. One burner did not work and when we opened the oven a dead mouse was inside. I think that the Ministry of Health would have a hay day here.||Overal you would be better off in your car in a Wall Mart parking lot instead of this dump. Really disappointed and I would suggest never staying here to anyone.l

I give this resort 5 stars, not because it is a 5 star resort, more like 3.5, but because our experience has always been 5 stars.||||We stay there for our annual family spring gateaway. We rent the 6 bedroom cottage on the lake and have campfires and big dinners and watch movies on the big flatscreen TV in house. ||||The view is to die for and so peaceful. The cottage is in good rustic shape, not perfect but perfect for us... It has all the utilities one would expect and did I say so relaxing!!! The value is incredible for being in the haliburtons on one of the nicest lakes there. Barb

We rented the 2bdrm cottage this season for sledding and it was an amazing trip!! Luckily there was lots of snow for us this season:)||||The cottage had a walk out facing the woods and a window facing the lake. We also sledded on this lake all the way into haliburton for a great breakfast at the cozy corner. Haliburton Village is a quaint little town with a bunch of stuff including a great antique store.||||I would certainly recommend this lodge if you enjoy the outdoors and are looking for a middle of the road establishment with high value. We would return in a heart beat!
