Our group travelled from Ontario and have always wanted to go sturgeon fishing. We booked a 4 hour trip with Keenan and had the best first experience you could ask for! Keenan was very friendly and knowledgeable with the fishing. He did everything that he could to make sure we had a great first time and catch some fish! We ended up catching 3 sturgeon just within the 4 hour trip, which we were very impressed with. I would highly recommend booking a trip with Mainlanders, they seem like a very knowledgeable group, and will do whatever it takes to make your experience is amazing. Hopefully we will come back again soon and book another trip!

Amazing trip, 5 stars all around!! Our group ranged in age from 11-66 years old and everyone had a great time. Brandon was incredibly knowledgeable on the water with targeted locations, bait selections, and controlling the boat around underwater hazards when we started hooking 9-10 footers. We all felt well-coached as sturgeon fishing definitely takes some finesse vs your normal lake and river fishing trips! Ended up with 14 fish hooked and 10 landed....largest being a 9'2" monster weighing in at 394 lbs and more than 100 years old. We will be back with Mainlanders in the future for sure!

I would like to take a moment to tell you all about our experience with Mainlanders. Our guide for the day was Brandon, we headed out onto the river at 8am with myself, my husband, and our two boys (9 and 6) for an 8 hour day that turned into 5 hours of constant rain. Brandon was well prepared for us and had the most patience with the most curious 6 year old, and for this alone I couldn't be more grateful to Brandon. It's one thing to have two excited adults, but to make sure two kids are having a good time while it rained on us the entire time, is a whole other accomplishment. When fish were caught, and don't worry fish were definitely caught, Brandon took his time to give us an education and let my kids ask every question known to man. Who knew you weren't just going to be fisherman for the day, but scientists too! A truly experienced guide understands the feeding habits of the fish to understand how to deliver catch after catch and even in the rain, Brandon delivered that experience for us. His knowledge of the river and the species was fascinating to say the least and we left the experience excited and eager to book the next one. I think Brandon and Mainlanders are about to become a big part of our family's yearly fishing trips. Thanks for the fun, for the catches, and for these smiles! If you're in the market for a fishing trip, I couldn't recommend Mainlanders enough. What a fantastic experience. See you next year!

We celebrated our son's 10th birthday with Mainlanders Sport Fishing, and it was nothing short of amazing. Brandon, our guide, was exceptional—knowledgeable, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our trip special. Over the course of four hours, we caught an impressive eight fish! The boat was extremely comfortable, and all our needs were perfectly taken care of. This was truly one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had. Highly recommend Mainlanders Sport Fishing! Thank you for much for the unforgettable experience Brandon.

Our group of 4 fished with Brandon for 2 ten hour days at the end of April 2025.
We flew into Abbotsford from Calgary, picked up our rental car and had a short drive into Chilliwack. Checked into our rooms and went for a nice meal at a nearby pub. Plenty of great places to eat in Chilliwack👌
We met Brandon at the launch early the 1st morning. He was already there, boat in the water. The left handed reels we requested were already geared up and in the rod holders, ready to go👌
We got a quick briefing and we were on our way down the river. After a few minutes of taking in the scenery and enjoying the ride,
We proceeded to anchor up at the 1st spot.
It didnt take long before we were into our 1st fish of the day and even though we had a tough bite we managed to land 8 for the day. Because of that slower bite Brandon had to work hard to get us on the active fish. We moved around a lot and we were impressed that he went to the trouble of using fresh bait at every new spot. All his effort resulted in a few fish in the 5-6 foot range and the biggest being an incredible 7 foot 4 inch beauty over our 2 days. He is knowledgeable and passionate about this fishery and answered all our questions. Great fiy that's easy to get along with and will work his butt off to put you on fish. And HE WILL put you on the fish! Highly recommend and will be going again in a couple of years👍 Thanks again for a great couple of days👊

An amazing fishing experience to be had!

We went with Mainlanders Sportfishing with Brandon Wootton to have our first ever sturgeon fishing trip and had no idea what we were in for. We landed 11 sturgeon on a day trip ranging in size from about a foot to a 8 foot 11 inch monster! It was a fully action packed day that left our arms pretty sore.

Brandon made sure we had the best experience we could have. He clearly explained how to fish for sturgeon, when to set the hook, how to prevent tangles (particularly important when we had 2 fish to reel in at the same time) and safe handling of the fish for release. He was very gentle and respectful of all fish caught and made sure the fish were released safely and gently. He pointed out wildlife, shared previous experiences and was just good fun to be around.

I highly recommend Mainlanders Sportfishing with Brandon for anyone wanting to experience the Fraser Valley’s amazing White Sturgeon fishing.
