I don't understand the negativity. This is a great company which employs local people. They helped several families from Ukraine by sponsoring them and giving them work. They are very concerned about environmental matters and have staff who work with the government to ensure that they are meeting all requirements plus more. It seems like there are a few older residents who just want to shut them down and put several young families out of work. I really don't understand the negative attitude towards a company which is helping local farmers with transportation, taking some of the burdens off of trucking and all that entails, and employing people who are glad to work for them.

I’m suspicious when issues in local media and private conversations over time come to mimic similar language and posturing. Over the past 6 months I’ve witnessed character assassination and a continuing demonization of Picton Terminals. For those who like to take refuge in the false security of consensus I suggest the following: Ask questions…for example: Have you had a conversation with anyone who works there? What do the courts say? How and why did council vote in favour of continuation of the expansion? Where do they get the fuel to run the Terminal & Tugs, hardware parts and machinery etc etc.
Besides, I love watching the ships come and go… it’s a connection the big world out there that I didn’t think I would find here.

I’ve only had great experiences with them. Good business, fair and friendly. There are people in the county that have a vendetta against Picton Terminals. From personal interactions, I only find them to be professional. Find out for yourself, don’t let a bunch of transplant people with nothing to do, sway you.

A bullish and unfriendly business. Their strong-arming of local government and flouting of municipal bylaws are legendary. They're interminably noisy, blasting and crashing at all hours of day and night. Picton Terminals operates as a de facto (and unlicensed) quarry, hungrily scraping and grinding away at the land and escarpment south of White Chapel Road, as they strive to expand their commercial shipping capacity, to the horror of the community living on and round Hallowell Cove.

Picton Terminals has destroyed my peaceful retirement. They are loading and unloading shipping containers between the hours of 10 pm and 8 am. Not cool! They do not care about the people or the environment. The blasting is so forceful, my house shakes! The worst thing that could possibly happen to Picton Bay 😡
