Simply put, Jason is the man. I took my father and son up to Rainy Lake and rented a house on one of the islands. This was our first time on Rainy and anybody thats been there knows how intimidating that can be the first time. Jason drove his boat out to our cabin, came on my boat and took us out! We were able to put down safe tracks that we could follow for the week we were there and he also pointed out tons of good spots to try along the way that we were able to mark and come back to. Jason is calm, kind and very knowledgeable. If your looking for a guide around the Rainy Lake area just stop searching now and go with Nothern Water Excursions.

This is a first class operation. Captain Jason put smiles on our kids faces for 2 straight days. We went fishing, hiking, boating, sight seeing, learned historical facts about the park and area and also ate wild blueberries. He made our trip to Voyageurs National Park and Rainy Lake amazing and sent us home with memories to last a lifetime.

AMAZING TRIP! Jason is amazing and made our trip perfect. He was professional, easy to talk to, patient, full of a ton of Park information, and he was mindful of the pace we needed to hike at. It was nice to spend the day with someone who genuinely is a great person, and I cannot express how much my wife and I enjoyed him. We will be coming back again next season for a 2-day trip with him around Labor Day again. We are going to go to Kettle Falls one day and then the next hike to some of the interior lakes on the Kabetogama Side of the Park. Cannot recommend Jason at Northern Water Excursions LLC enough.

My wife and I booked a 3 hour tour with Jason in mid-May. Jason kept us informed about the conditions (ice, rain, etc) starting about a week before our arrival, so we adjusted our schedule to have fine weather for the tour. Jason was very informative about the Park and area, history (gold mining on the islands!), fishing (commercial and recreational), and in general a fun and interesting tour. Jason mentioned he expected to acquire a larger boat so check with him on that. He is also a fishing guide!

I finally took the plunge this year and schduled a day to have Jason guide me on Rainy. I have never had such a consistent large Smallmouth bite, than when Jason took me out. It was real easy to spend time with him he's just a super guy. I mean I would recommend this to anyone that wants to go fishing on Rainy. Whether you know the lake, know what you're doing, or not. He knows what he's doing and he loves to do it.

I'll be back next year, wish I would've went with you sooner.

We had an awesome two days with Jason. One day of fishing for me caught some great smallmouth bass and some big Walleyes. On the second day we did a full tour of Lake Kabetogama Jason was very knowledgeable and fun to be around. Highly recommend his expert fishing guide service and touring.

We enjoyed a beautiful day yesterday on Rainy Lake in Voyageurs National Park on the Minnesota/Ontario border. Props to Jason at Northern Water Excursions for an excellent tour -- weather was perfect, fall colors were popping, and he knows the lakes from one end to the other. We're not fishermen, just wanted to see Voyageurs from the inside, and he was an excellent guide. Very personable and helpful, a great boat captain, and his love for the lake, its wildlife, and the area really shined through. Can't recommend Jason highly enough!
