We visited all three of the visitor centers in this National Park. I have to say our expectations were exceeded each time. Each one is different, and each one deserves a visit.

This has a great museum explaining the history of the people that were in this area for hundreds of years involved with the fur trading. From about the 1600s to the 1900s, these waterways were the highways and Interstates for the trading business.

There are lots of hiking trails and bike trails nearby. And, this seems to be the most popular of the three sites for fishermen. There were boat trailers lined up on both sides of the roads leading into the park. The parking lot for the trailers was full. Everyone, it seemed, was out today and visiting this park.

Be sure to hike the Oberholtzer trail. It is only a mile long (round trip). Oh, carry mosquito repellent.

Good visitor center - quite a few things to do, small trails, short overlook hikes. There's a marina here, so it seems like a good boat launch area.

Excellent visitors center. Employees were very helpful. Great garden with signs explaining what the plants are and what the Ojibwe People used them for. There is a store and multiple displays.

This is probably the best point to start in Voyageurs National Park. The visitor center has a lot of information about the park and a small museum with interesting artifacts. Its also where you can get the boat trip on the lake, which is well worth doing.

Absolutely fabulous staff at this unique National Park that is FREE, but mostly accessible via waterways. Visitor center is filled with informative displays and exhibits. They also have a small video presentation about the park, played upon request.
We took their Grand Boat tour and the staff onboard was amazing— fun, informative and helpful. The tour was a success in spotting several Bald Eagles (including a nest) and other birds. Highly recommend that you reserve this tour.
