Stay at Lochaber lake view cottage if you want to have zero privacy and owners on each side of you watching your every move while your in the pool (they live on each side of the property and share the same driveway as you)

We came here as a group getaway.. all responsible mid 30s adults.

When you enter the cottage you are greated with a rule book the size of an old sears Christmas catalog with a list of fines

A decibel rule.. you are to not be any louder then a running washing machine.

Here's a good one... a pet friendly stay with a dog poop fine.. that's OK but why is the owners dog always on the property then? We have to pick that poop up too?

They were on the property every day multple times a day watching us.

On the last day a couple of us were enjoying the last few hours in the gazebo and the owner showed up unannounced and started cleaning up the hot tub before checkout.

If you value privacy and stay away from this place the constant watching and threat of fines is no way to spend a relaxing weekend.. would not recommend.

We are just wrapping up our last night here and don't want to leave! We stayed at the Retreat Lodge for a week during the Christmas holiday 2024 and fell in love with the lodge, the area, and of course the hot tub, which is right on the fully covered patio. It is appointmented with new retro style appliances and furnishings which we loved. I even had the opportunity to meet our host when he came by to check on the hot tub. He was very kind and friendly and his dog played outside with my dogs during his quick stop.
The lodge is so well appointmented I could've moved in permanently and not require a single thing. The location is beautiful with a view of Lochabor Lake (may be a bit obscured in the summer but also more private and cozy).
When we arrived, we found our hosts had even decorated for Christmas, which was a nice surprise as our visiting family, and especially our granddaughters, loved. I can't say enough about Lochabor Lake Lodges, in particular Retreat lodge, which I believe is the only one with a fully covered and enclosed porch to enjoy the outdoors in all seasons. The lodge is also much more spacious than it appears in photos and we had plenty of room for our Christmas eve feast with our family.
I'm already planning my next stay and highly recommend Lochabor Lake Lodges to anyone!

We were stayed at Retreat Lodge on weekend. It's beautiful and very clean. Hot tub is the best in a cold evening. We had a good time. Highly recommended
