Well worth checking out this museum when you are in the Windsor area. Staff was super friendly and lots of great educational information is preserved related to the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. There is the church, a historical cabin of the time, a museum, and a gift shop. We learned a lot. Putting a few pictures to give you an idea of what you'll see. Free parking.

If you are ever out on the southwest side of the province in Amherstburg, take the time to step back in history. From the museum to the church to the cabin from the 1800's you will be amazed. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the musuem.

Very grateful to our tour guide for taking us around to the church and cabin. Our family has a personal connection to Amherstburg with several branches of freedom seekers who passed through from Virginia. Researchers at the museum were kind enough to pull information about an ancestor from their archives and left a packet of information for my review. Thank you SO much!

I absolutely loved this museum. I had a tour and then was able to explore the gallery. It's not large and the tour and self-guided piece can completed in about 1.5 hours. Parking was very easy in the dedicated lot nearby. No food was available (through a cafe or anything) which was fine for me. There is also a small gift shop area with an incredible selection of books that allow you to bring the experience home!

This museum is well worth the visit. It is well maintained and care given to local history and impact on the contributions of African-Canadians in our region. I learned a great deal and thank the tour guide for his insightfulness and historical knowledge. I visited midweek and I didn’t have a booked time. Was able to get tour immediately. The exhibition is an historic treasure and I visited after the tour. Admission price very reasonable.
