CMH Heli-Skiing & Summer Adventures - Purcell - Golden, British Columbia

I recently won a one-day heli-skiing trip with CMH Purcell at a Warren Miller movie premier in Philadelphia. All I had to do was get there. I was very worried leading up to the trip since the weather wasn't great and the area was having a pretty poor winter thus far. I arrived the morning of the trip and was warned that they might not go out. Thankfully the weather cleared and we got out without any issues. The guides did a great job preparing us for the day (Tom, Jesse, Morgan) and the crew at the lodge did a nice job getting our gear setup and providing food and snacks.

We took off around 10am and skied about 10+ runs. All runs were untracked and the conditions were great. We were fortunate to have received 35 cm of fresh snow the night before so conditions were perfect. I was thankful for the powder skis that they provided. It made a world of difference!

Due to the weather patterns and lack of snow the previous few weeks, we had to stay on the low-aspect runs and in the trees. It would have been nice to ride the longer, steeper runs that we observed in the distance, but we recognized the danger and appreciated the guides caution.

We had a nice lunch half-way through the day and ended the day riding a sweet line down hump from the "top of the world".

Besides the fabulous snow, the best part was a group. CMH paired us all up with skiers and one boarder that all rode well throughout the day. The last thing you want is to be paired with less experienced skiers/boarders that are not familiar with riding in powder.

Lastly, I'd like to call out Meg for her help in tracking down my coat that I left at the lodge. She contacted one of the guests and I was able to coordinate the retrieval of the coat.

One recommendation: It would be extremely helpful if CMH Purcell would reach out 1-2 days leading up to the ride to ensure guests have arrived in town, provide an update on the weather and any new snow, get guests excited about the ride and use it as an opportunity to share videos, pics and any relevant links for clients to get ready. In this day and age, I expect a text and/or email leading up to the visit to get me excited.

Tried out CMH-Purcell for my first time heli-boarding in the beginning of January. Got lucky with the conditions and had one of the best days of my life!

Huge shoutout to my two guides, Matt and Morgan, who made me feel safe, but also stoked for the entire experience. The lodge staff were also incredibly accommodating. The crew overall does a great job at keeping you educated on how to get the most out of your day and equips you to do so. We did so many runs my legs were cramping by the end of the day.

If you’re looking for a day-trip heli experience, don’t miss out on CMH-Purcell!

What could be better?! If it’s on your bucket list, definitely go. The guides were so supportive and encouraging. I was obviously nervous about the obvious risks but the training was excellent and I trusted the guides fully. We had Jesse and Mary Beth guiding us and couldn’t have been more comfortable. Lunch was also incredible, which was just an added bonus.

Can’t say enough how much I enjoyed my experience with these guys. Great variety glades and wide open alpine. Big shout to Jesse, Matt, Tom and Meagan who made my time in the Purcell’s so enjoyable. I will be back!

Incredible guides and staff we all experienced and welcoming. I always felt safe in their hands. Highly impressed with the over all experience
