We have a crew that has done a week each year at many different huts in the Rockies for the past 10 years, and Sorcerer stands out among the rest.

The terrain is superb for trees, alpine, peak-bagging, and any conditions or time of year, which means even with the unpredictability of the weather, you will still have a phenomenal week. There is lots of terrain too, which means fresh snow even if it hasn’t snowed for weeks (or more!)

The hut itself is well designed and laid out, and some recent renovations were done to increase space, and add ventilation and hot and cold running water into each room!! An indoor shower and toilet makes those middle of the night bathroom runs way more pleasant. And dedicated drying racks in each room means there no fighting about who gets the spot above the heater to dry their gear like there is in many other places.

To top it off, Mike and Cara are incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated to ensuring you have a great time. They were super flexible in accommodating Covid cancellations and rebooking us. Our week had some very significant ski ability differences among the crew, and they put together a program that provided for everyone; from the first time tourer to the expert skiiers who wanted to pound out 10 hours of skiing. One of the two is typically guiding any given week, and we were fortunate enough to have both.

This trip is the one that may have tipped the needle into some members of our group making a second trip every year - once to Sorcerer and once to a new place as we typically do. It’s THAT good.
