What a great experience! Really enjoyed the day. The staff were AMAZING with their knowledge as well as their kindness.

Immerse yourself in the 1880’s and see how much has changed AND how much really has not.

Challenge - find the origins of IBM and the “first” computer
. You’ll be quite surprised as well as impressed at what our ancestors were capable of.

We will be back again.

Just like any other similar museum, this is out in the open with different dwellings showing how life was a couple of centuries back.
But what sets this open air museum apart is the knowledgeable staff and how friendly they are. It is not just the recreation of the old houses but also how people used to live with a musician, with a few people knitting etc. that takes you back into time.

Lang Pioneer Village is a wonderful experience. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and bring the history to life in such engaging ways. On top of that, they are friendly and welcoming, which makes exploring the village even more enjoyable. You leave not only having learned something new, but also feeling like you’ve stepped back in time with people who truly care about sharing the history.

The Steam Engine show every father's day is fun to take your dad to if you want to look at old engines and see historically kept buildings from the Peterborough and surrounding area. $17 entry for adults helps keep the buildings genuine and the programs running.

A great morning here today. Some generational importance, too: my mom, now 70, worked here as a teen. As a kid in the 1980s, my brothers and I attended summer camps here for three consecutive years. Today, decades later, we brought my two-year old daughter for a visit.

The staff were amazing from start to finish. We arrived to a warm welcome at the desk and were greeted by 'interpreters' (pioneers) at each stop of the way. They were all very friendly, knowledgeable and polite, and they maintained smiles and professionalism even amidst the high heat and humidity.

We will be back when our toddler is a bit older and will have more memories of this village. We very much recommend a visit here to anyone interested in learning more about the life of a pioneer in Ontario. It really does feel like a time warp back to 1825.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Visited with my young grandaughter today. What a gem this pioneer village is. All the buildings were staffed with folks in period clothes who provided the history of the structures. A small period children's playground complete with wooden swings, teeter totters and log fort with a climbing ladder was a hit with kids. There are multiple large barns with many types of 1800s machinery from washing machines to thrash machines. For those who enjoy old equipment Lang is a goldmine. Be sure to visit the building housing the looms which contains a very rare operating loom run on punch cards. The General Store holds many interesting artifacts as well along with lollipops for kids. The Church has period pews along with a pedal organ. And ensure to visit the Grist Mill which operates on special occasions. As well there is a farm with sheep for the kids. Many shaded picnic tables are also available on the site to have a picnic. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be returning.
