We enjoyed our 5 night stay in the Cowichan Room in the Cottage of this wonderful home. The room is spacious including an electric fireplace and nice sitting area. Christina is a gracious host and we appreciated her suggestions for dining and activities in the area. We liked being in Old Town and near Kinsmen Beach Park and walked everywhere. We saw a professional musical production at the Chemainus Theatre and attended a Bluegrass Festival at Waterwheel Park. The location is great for exploring other towns and activities on Vancouver Island.

We were welcomed by Christina who from the start was very friendly. She showed us around the cottage and our room. We were on the ground floor with access to the garden. Our room was very comfortable and added touches were, toiletries and hairdryer were provided. We woke to a lovely breakfast made by Christina, who also was very helpful in providing information about different places to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend a visit. It is a beautiful quaint cottage, with a at home feel.

Very nice, small, individually and lovingly run bed and breakfast. I stayed here one night when I was passing through and had a wonderful time. The location near the sea was perfect for relaxing after a day in the car and the town is a charming little town.
The accommodation was very clean, personal and Christina was a wonderful host.

This place was an absolute disappointment. We were looking forward to our stay here. The photos are definitely not the place that we thought we were staying at. When we pulled up into the driveway, we knew immediately it was going to be a disappointment. This place needs a complete clean up, paintjob, upgrade etc. For the amount being charged, it should be pristine. We can say we literally got "catfished" by the photos. Save your time, money and any disappointment and drive to Nanaimo and stay at the Coast Hotel for less of a price and a great place with a great view and cleanliness.

I am writing to express my concern regarding our recent stay at a property in Chemainus, which ended in an unexpected and distressing eviction.||At no point was there any mention or indication that the number of individuals briefly visiting the property would be restricted. There were no clearly communicated terms stating that only two individuals were permitted on-site, even for short social visits.||Furthermore, the host later claimed that I had signed a document outlining such limitations. However, when I attempted to verify this, I found no accessible document—only a notice on the site indicating that a document had been signed, without any content or record available for review. As a frequent traveler, I’ve booked numerous stays across different locations, and I always take care to review property rules. In this case, the necessary information was either not presented or not accessible.||It is also worth noting that on the host’s own social media (Facebook), there are photos of a wedding event hosted at the property, with clearly more than two people in attendance. This raises further concerns about inconsistent enforcement of so-called “rules” and casts doubt on the reasoning behind our abrupt eviction.||Our visit was not a party or disruptive gathering—just a brief early-evening meetup with fellow travelers, all senior citizens, before heading to a nearby dinner reservation. We would have fully complied with any stated rules had they been clearly presented in advance.||The experience was not only distressing but also felt unjust, given the circumstances and lack of transparency.

Stayed in the Castle suite with my dog. It was absolutely magical. Stayed for 2 nights of R&R. Exactly like pictures and more. Quiet location and steps to the beach. The tub was great and bed was comfy! I highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at A Cottage & Castle Bed & Breakfast. The house is an older Victorian style home, beautifully decorated with lots of neat items to explore. The Host is wonderful, she went out of our way to accommodate our breakfast wishes, was pleasant and provided us privacy.

The location is walking distance to a great Thai restaurant, coffee shops and old town.

I recommend A Cottage & Castle Bed & Breakfast to anyone who would like a quiet, romantic (or non-romantic), beautiful stay in Chemainus.

We had a wonderful time at this delightful and beautiful B&B. We loved our room on the 2nd floor with the 2 dormer windows you see in the photo. The bed was super comfortable and we loved sitting on the day bed with the ocean view. Our favourite spot was on the front porch, with its multiple seating areas, admiring the garden, listening to the crickets and watching the world go by. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful at the gorgeous live edge dining table and our hostess was friendly, kind and very attentive to detail. THANK YOU for the perfect weekend! P.S. Easy walking distance to downtown Chemainus.
