If you’re going to fly fish the Elk River, the absolute best choice you could make is to hire Andres as your guide! His communications and info to prepare you for your trip of a lifetime are timely and valuable. He is a very warm, friendly and relaxed character who loves what he does. He gave me a fantastic refresher lesson on my casting and mending as it had been a few years since I was last able to get out on a river. Andres put me onto approximately 50 cutthroats on our 18km drift boat journey. I was rusty at first but quickly improved with his help and patience and was able to land 14 beautiful trout and had at least another 25 take the fly momentarily! Andres goes the extra mile and puts in the extra effort. He cooked a delicious hot lunch right there in the drift boat and made a once in a lifetime experience even more incredible! Thank you again Andres! So glad to meet you and spend a day together on the Elk River.

I came across Andres Fly Fishing last year when planning a trip to BC to fish the Elk river. It is really difficult for a guide to get a high rating on Google reviews with so many different types of people and the daily variability of fishing conditions. Andres 5 star rating with over 140 reviews seemed too good to be true, but I’m here to add yet another 5 star review. A buddy and I had a phenomenal day on the Elk with him targeting West Slope Cutthroat Trout last August. That trip was so great that another friend and I decided to visit him for a week long experience in Chile (which had been a bucket list item for us.) As one would hope with a guide, Andres and team put us on explosive fish day after day, with local knowledge of flies and techniques and exclusive access to water which sees very little pressure. We were particularly impressed with Andres and his team (“same BS, different accent” he says - all with great enthusiasm and sense of humor); they were patient and informative, with an incredible work ethic. Andres takes years to train his team and line up partners such as Hotel Patagonia House. He really listened to our interests in both fishing techniques (e.g., we got to work mice patterns) and local culture and cuisine. If you are looking for a guided trip in Fernie or near Coyhaique, Chile, I highly recommend him.

Trip of a lifetime! Spent 2 days on the Elk on 9/1/25 and 9/2/25. 1st day guide was Parker who was a blast and put us on nice fish on streamers all day. Day 2 guide was Spencer who was super knowledgeable and patient as we caught fish on dry flies all day. Both days lunches were amazing and home cooked thanks to Andres' family/crew. Best float trip I've ever done and I cant recommend them enough. Thanks for everything and all the memories!

Absolutely wonderful day with Andre on the Elk. Andre is both patient and enthusiastic. He brought a portable gas grill and we had the best river lunch I have ever had. A slow morning turned into a fun afternoon with lots of cooperative cutthroat trout. Highly recommend.

I have fished with Andres 3x now in Patagonia. He is an excellent guide , photographer and an exceptional outfitter. If you communicate what you want from your experience, be it catching many fish, dry fly, wading, tough big fish or specific cuisine, he will do his best to make it happen for you and every member of your group. Go fish Chile with Andres...you will not regret it.

While vacationing in beautiful Fernie, British Columbia, I booked day float trip to fly fish the Elk River with Andres Gonzalez of Andres Fly Fishing. Andres is a licensed guide and outfitter based in Fernie, BC. Quite simply this was one of the best guided trips I’ve ever had. Price wise, it was comparable to any quality float trip you would find in the western U.S. If you fish with Andres, you will quickly see that he is a skilled fly fishing professional and knows how to safely operate a drift boat. He accommodated my desire to throw streamers all day and while we did not hook up with any bull trout, we returned countless cutthroats with sore jaws to the river. Most of all, I really appreciated Andres’ laid back personality and our conversations about family and fishing in Patagonia. His hot lunch featuring a grilled pasta salad ranks among there very best “shore lunches” I’ve ever had. I will definitely return to Fernie and fish with Andres when I do!

Andres and Tanner hosted a fantastic week in Patagonia for our group of 3. The experience was curated and authentic, and the Guides went above and beyond on several occasions.

Highlights from the trip include the landscape and setting of each water we fished, Andres' top-notch shore lunches, the knowledge and experience of the guides - and of course the quality of the fishing!
