There’s a 5 km hike each way to Sheldon Lake (camp site 2) which is on a peninsula with a great view up the long lake. Great water views along the way. It’s wet and muddy in a few places and there is one treacherous walk across a beaver dam. Bit more adventurous than most hikes, but relative easy otherwise.

Went hiking here. Not a lot of people. We could not find where the trail start at Queen Elizabeth II park but we tagged the location 📍 so here is the start of the trail is here.

Nice nature 🌲🏕 and walk on the rocks and lake. Also look out in the middle of the trail you need to clim down (2m) if there was a rope it could go easy.😊

One of the best backpacking places in Ontario. So quiet, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful. Not so many people know about this hidden gem. We hiked from the Devils Lake main entrance to Sheldon Lake camping site #34. We did a day camp there and came back. It is now awaiting for you to discover. Thumbs up.

This is such a great park. I can't even express my gratitude for today's hike. Definitely worth driving for two hours.

Love to come to the park in the off season when there are fewer bugs (and fewer people). It is hard to get into the park since the boundary is all cottages. It's a long hike or a long paddle with portages. This is the safest way in for paddlers (Head Lake can get very rough with even just a fair wind).

Wear hunter orange in hunting season!

Currently this is an unmanaged park, so it's free to use, but also is not very well maintained. You may have to cross beaver dams while hiking or paddling. Bridges may be unusable.

This entrance has a small dock for paddlers which is great, and it's lit at night.
The hike-in entrance is a little farther back on the road.

There is a small parking area which can fill up fast on weekends (and is way worse on holiday weekends) with the hikers, paddlers and cottage owners. Please don't parallel park here. Nose in or back in. Parralel parking takes up two parking spots or more in an already too small lot.

They are working on making the park pay-to-use. If they do, we'd probably drive a little farther to Algonquin which is less buggy and easier to find a less crowded campsite. We'll see how it goes.
