I have traveled to every continent in the world, and this hotel room is one of the cleanest I've ever seen. The finishing is basic and modern, with a lot of wood, so it is easy to clean. There is no dust or mold anywhere in the room, even in the darkest corners behind the beds and behind the tv. It is extremely clean. As a person with many allergies, it is rare that I am able to sleep comfortably in a hotel without suffering from the dust and mold. However this hotel had excellent air quality and I had excellent sleeps

Hotel Baker is as they say the gem within the gem that is Gaspé. Set on a hill facing the Gaspé bay, it offers a splendid view if you take a room on that side. The hôtel is modern, classy and very well kept. Rooms offer a lot of space. Everything is nice and confortable. On the same site, you will find a nice tavern (see below), a theater with a current playlist of movies and a small gym. Staff is accomodating and helpful; they’ve let me park my motorcycle right at the front of the lobby for the sake of its security.
The tavern, named Tëtû, is nicely set also with a panoramic view on the bay and it is confortable. You will find a pretty good selection of wine and liquors, and a reasonnable list of beers. The menu makes a wink at a staple of french canadian popular dishes, like the hot chicken, however with a touch that upgrades the experience. On the downside, I would recommand the tavern to hire staff with more experience in customer service, as many of the employees are cold and distant when waiting tables, but they do know on how to let us wait on them.

Hôtel Baker in Gaspé is a charming 4-star icon since 1881, right in the heart of town overlooking the bay! This pet-friendly gem offers 70 spacious rooms with comfy beds, free WiFi, and modern amenities, plus an adjacent golf course and electric car charging. I loved the on-site Tétû Taverne Gaspésienne for fresh local seafood with ocean views, the cozy outdoor fireplace, and quick access to Gaspé Cathedral and Birthplace of Canada. The fitness room and cinema arcade were fun bonuses after exploring the Gaspé Peninsula. Central spot, spotless, and great value—perfect base for coastal adventures!

Hotel Review
My stay at this hotel was deeply disappointing and riddled with issues that made the experience far from enjoyable. Upon arriving at our assigned room, we were shocked to find it hadn’t been cleaned. The room was in disarray, clearly not prepared for new guests. To add to the frustration, there was no conditioner provided, and the hairdryer—straight out of the 1990s—looked like it had never been cleaned, which was off-putting and unhygienic.
On our first day, we left the “please clean” sign on the door and even left a generous tip, hoping for good service. However, when we returned, the room was untouched—no cleaning had been done at all. This was incredibly frustrating and showed a complete lack of attention to guest needs.
To make matters worse, the parking situation was absurd. The hotel’s parking lot was full in the evening, and we were instructed to park in a designated spot out front and move our car later when a space became available. This is an utterly ridiculous request, adding unnecessary hassle to an already disappointing stay.
I strongly advise potential guests to think twice before booking here. The lack of basic cleanliness, outdated amenities, and poor service make this hotel a choice to avoid.

The room was modern, nice and clean with lots of space. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Our only complaint was loud guests in the hall (with a barking dog!) early in the morning, but that is not the fault of the hotel. A good place to rest your head for the night.

Pretty good hotel! The room was clean (bed made every day), bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. The tavern had really good breakfast. Only complaint was that the shower had trouble draining so you have to be careful. It’s a very short walk into town but there is a steep hill to walk up on your way back.

The service was excellent. The rooms were quiet, very clean, the bedding was comfortable, plenty of bathroom amenities. Two minor issues, there is no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage legging the stairs; and the AC/heating was a little noisy.

Hôtel Baker is a thoughtfully updated historic property with modern touches and some character from its past still showing through. They’re currently renovating the lower level to include a movie theatre and arcade, which looks like it will be a fun addition.

Our room was modern, clean, and comfortable, but after about an hour we noticed water on the bathroom floor from a leak in the room above. The staff responded right away — they checked the situation and offered us a new room. The only available option was smaller and in the older section of the building, but it was still fine for our needs. We appreciated the staff’s prompt attention and their offer of a partial refund for the inconvenience.

Check-in service was excellent, and although our room wasn’t ready when we arrived around 4 pm, we were able to relax in the comfortable lobby and plan our activities. Beds were very comfortable, and we appreciated having a fridge and a Keurig coffee maker in the room.

The hotel is in a great location — just a short walk from Rue de la Reine with its cafés, restaurants, and shops. One note: there’s no elevator, so you do need to carry your luggage up and down stairs — but the hotel is only two floors, and staff offered to help.
