We recently had an incredible guided hike in Kananaskis National Park with Tibor from Bear Country Guiding & Consulting. Tibor’s knowledge and expertise were evident from the start, as he shared fascinating insights about the local wildlife and the park’s natural features. Although we didn’t spot any bears, we were fortunate enough to see other wildlife, including bighorn sheep, pika, and grouse, all while taking in breathtaking landscapes and waterfalls.

Tibor’s focus on safety throughout the hike was reassuring, and his attention to detail ensured that everyone felt comfortable. The fact that he provided transportation from Calgary to the park made the experience even more convenient. His friendly and accommodating approach added to the overall enjoyment of the day.

The value for money was outstanding, and we would absolutely book with Tibor again when we return to Alberta. His professionalism, combined with his passion for the area, made this hike an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

We had an amazing trip in August to Canada with "Bear Country Guiding & Consulting". The nature and wildlife was obviously other worldly, but it wouldn't have been this memorable without our guide, Tibor. He was really nice, talkative and knew everything about the wildlife and the places we went to visit. Also, thanks to him we saw places and went for hikes where we wouldn't have had if we were on our own. He knew where to look for bears and we were lucky enough to see 9 altogether! (We really wanted to see some, but we did not expect to see so many of them.) Nevertheless we felt safe all the time, since he has experience with the bears thanks to his previous jobs as he told us. Also he made us ready for every possible situation. The weather can be really unpredictable. One day we went for a hike and while we were busy taking photos of some mountain sheep, we got into a middle of a rainy snowstorm. So a rain coat can always come in handy. Not just because of the unpredictable rain but also because of the wind since the higher you go, the less cover there is to stop the wind.
Altogether it was a really memorable trip with crazy stories to tell for a long time.

We spent two weeks in Alberta and during this time we booked several hikes with Bear Country Guiding & Consulting. We visited the famous Banff, Jasper and Yoho National Parks a well as the Kananaskis Country area. We saw beautiful lakes, such as Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, and reached breathtaking mountain peaks such as Mt. Allan. A special experience was when, after one of our hikes in Kananaskis, our guide showed us a hidden suspension bridge.
One of our most memorable hikes was on the Iceline Trail in Yoho, where we marveled at melting glaciers and waterfalls (including Takakkaw Falls), and even took a dip in a 5°C glacial lake – an unforgettable experience!
During our trips we drove by different passes, rivers, lakes and mountains such as Highwood Pass, Howse Pass, Castle Mountain, Temple Mountain, Three Sisters, Bow Lake, Peyto Lake as well as the Bow, North Saskatchewan, Kicking Horse and Yoho rivers. At most places, we were able to stop and immerse ourselves in the beauty of the landscape.
The wildlife also captivated us. We saw, for example, mountain goats, big horn sheep, wapiti, pikas, ground squirrels, chipmunks, marmots and Golden eagles while our guide shared fascinating information and stories about them. We’ve also seen wildlife tracks and signs of bear activity and learned a lot about bear safety.
These trips provided defining experience for us, and we highly recommend Bear Country Guiding & Consulting to everyone!

Tibor took my husband and me for a hike in the Kananaskis area. This turned out to be my MOST enjoyable, scenic and educational hike! We were very lucky to have Tibor as our guide, as we are from BC and do not know the area. He is very professional, knowledgeable, organized and punctual. Most importantly, he cares, and also knows the area so well to accommodate me as a beginner hiker. His pick of routes worked perfect for me so that I could have a wonderful time without any strains! I therefore highly recommend Tibor‘s exceptional service to anyone who would like to have a memorable and pleasure hike! Tibor took us on trails to explore. The day was sunny while the scenery and mountains were beautiful. We followed the trail along the beach of the lake. Tibor was so kind to point out hazards such as tree roots, loose rocks, etc., and he was on alert for any possible bear encounter.
Tibor is very knowledgable about wildlife, and we learned much from him. He has a big heart for animals.
Tibor picked a very nice lakefront spot for a snack. Very scenic! We really enjoyed the chat with him!
We had a very relaxing “ Zen” day on the trails, with no worries at all [fear of getting lost]! Next time we are in Calgary, I would not hesitate to call up Tibor for another hike to explore more of the Kananaskis/Banff area!
