What a gem! Beltane Books has an astounding selection of beautiful books at affordable prices, packed into a tiny, charming space near the Hornby Island ferry. Every time we stop in at Beltane, our family comes away with two or three wonderful treasures. The staff are knowledgeable, kind and helpful. Not to be missed!

This little bookstore is such a gem. It's hard to believe that so many wonderful books could be packed into this little space. We always find something interesting and unique as well as wonderful gifts. Our family loves this place. Beltane Books is a treat to stop in when visiting the island.

Beltane Books has consistently set me giddy with the selection of books they have on offer - always far from the "standard fare" of so many book stores. They curate some absolutely magnificent tomes, and I very much look forward to every opportunity I have to browse their shelves. It can be worth missing a ferry to give their stacks the deepest search possible. Or just give yourself extra time and still make your boat!

I first fell in love with this book store when it was in gas-town, Vancouver. A wizardly, wonderful bookstore you'd find in Harry Potter, this is an enchanting world of rare books and stacks of gems. Fitting that they relocated to Hornby Island, where better to unplug with a beautiful book. Even the check out is an experience, receipts are typed out on an antique typewriter.

Beltane Books have a great assortment of books packed into the tiniest bookstore in one of the best locations in BC. Where else could you find wonderful classics plus modern novels or Edith Pargetter and also "House Decoration" (Whitewashing, Painting, Paperhanging) from 1902 ? This bookstore is brilliant and well worth a visit.

Beltane Books is this wonderful eclectic vessel of wonderous books tied to the dock of Shingle Spit.If you get to be on board and seize a book which there are so many one wants before you have caught the next ferry of the Hornby...Make sure to carry some real cash as often one has spent it as you are leaving Hornby. Hanna Wind - Baltrane Books is Awesome and Micheal is doing the best he can to take care of his family and you caught him after staying up most of the night with a sick and crying 6-year old child who is on palliative care from brain cancer... I am sure that he did not mean to ignore you, he was probably running on empty.... please reconsider your opinion. I personally admire his fortitude.

I have had the privilege of spending many hours exploring the rare and intriguing selection of Beltane Books and I have come away with some very precious reading experiences, not to mention interesting and genuinely heart-warming conversations with the owner. Definitely worth a visit!
