Had a room booked for myself and my family for the 21 as we are traveling from BC. Phoned to ask if the roads ended up closing on our way there due to the fires situation if I would still be charged or not. The guy I spoke to said “cancel, cancel “ I reiterated that I wanted to KEEP my reservation as we need a place to stay but again asked about the cancellation policy due to the fires. He stated “no charge, cancel” so I said ok I won’t be charged if I cancel? He said “no charge, cancel” I said thank you and hung up. I got an email a few moments later with my cancellation confirmation through Expedia. I phoned him and asked why they cancelled my reservation and he said he cancelled it through Expedia. I told him I didn’t want it cancelled. He just kept repeating “cancelled, cancelled, no charge”
I do believe a language barrier is involved but not very impressed.

The motel was good like most of the motels I have been for work just missing few cleaning things but no biggie if you can suck it up like a man.
I called the motel because I have bad experiences using online reservation before and from since then, i never made online reservations from any motels, just simply search up motels in those area instead of being lazy ass and relying to online reservation websites. Anyway, I made reservation and stayed there for more than a week, I found some bad reviews before I made the reservation and let me tell you when you read the reviews because I got broad working experiences related to sales. (Ex.super store, walmart, best western, comfort inn, gas stations, etc...) most of the places I worked in hotel/motel, most of the reviews come from 1-2 days reviews. Those people demand so much for just a night or two like they want 5 star motel services for cheap prices. TOO MANY PEOPLE WANT GOOD SERVICES WITH CHEAP PRICES. When I remember working in motels taking reservations/calls *most of the customers who come in do not know about motel services. They have NOT been to many motels or they have been to 4-5 star motels like best western, super 8 and expecting like the same services but cheaper.* Those motels are good I will admit that but if you want decent prices and wanna just rest up and go then most of the motels I saw have really decent prices before I made the reservations. If you are review-dependent person, then this review would be the most wise one to read. I am going to leave more reviews on more motels because people are retarded for demanding so much for just a day or 2. I stayed for OVER A WEEK and I liked it. PS. decent BBQ machine they got. Got the job done.

When heading halfway across the country by road, hotels are often a decision of necessity vs added amenities. The Black Gold was all that was needed. Basic room with good beds, no bugs, no visible cleaning issues, and a tv for the unwind. |Greeted efficiently and cheerfully, checkout was easy, and old timey. Handwritten receipts and metal door keys. Nostalgia! THIS is a roadside motel from my youth!|Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, tv is big and clear, wifi is excellent! It's a place to stay a night, get some rest, and carry on. At a great price!|Public areas inside are clean, and the parking lot is immaculate! There appears to be a gas barbecue for guest use, and a small picnic table out front. |Although right on the highway, our room was quiet. Even with windows open. |Friendly check in. Obviously a family business. |Highly recommend for a no frills, basic hotel experience.

Family run, well maintained, all rooms are no smoking no pets so there's no smell in the halls or anything. You can tell the paint is often touched up and the rooms are cleaned well. Not many hotels are this well kept after so many years in service. 10 minutes walk to Sobeys which goes well with the kitchenettes which have all the dishes and cutlery, pots and pans, 4 burner stove, microwave, giant refrigerator, toaster oven, toaster, coffee maker Large kitchen sink for dishes and cooking. Large LED TV with lots of channels, fast wifi. Most importantly strong water pressure, as much hot water as you want. Newer hotels look fancy but I find their showers to be very disappointing by comparison, I also find the clientele to be less rowdy and I can keep my window open and wall down the halls without choking on drug smoke which is common at other hotels in this town.

Poor customer service, cleanliness wasn't good. Washroom is not enough clean.Worst part is you have to park your vehicle on your own risk.

Not recommend.

Surprisingly just opposite of the motel there is a Mosque. Love that part

We stayed in the Black Gold Inn March 30th 2021, we had a late check-in (10:30 pm).
The lady was very nice and helpful, three guys and three rooms. The rooms are very clean and we will stay there again after our next rotation.

Unfortunately to write a review I had to pick a star. Wouldn't have given any. Worst customer hospitality ever and the chambermaids came into our double locked room with the do not disturb sight on the door at 6:45 AM. Checkout isn't till 11. Then they proceeded to be the noisiest cleaners ever This went on till 9 am. So much for a relaxing stay. If you want to relax stay far away from this place. Very disappointed. I stay hotels all the time and this was one of the worst.

This a lesson in not accepting two reviews only, particularly when one was written a year ago. This was once a good set-up but is now terribly run down.|The good points weres the price; large rooms; excellent lighting over the bathroom mirrors and the wifi was very good.|The not so good were that the windows had to remain shut as there was no security and it was hot while we were there. The bathroom exhaust fan came on automatically with the light. The fan was well past it's use by date as the noise was so loud it would surely wake people up down the hall let alone your partner should you need to go to the bathroom during the night. The toilet seat was broken; lighting was poor and there were only two pillows. We found the smoke alarm in a drawer which explained the hole in the ceiling with wires hanging down. The shower was broken so more water came out the bath tap than the shower which made it somewhat difficult.
