Rick is an amazing experienced fisherman. He is local and knows all the waters, the land and air around the area and enjoys sharing the stories and educating us. He also knows where the fish are! We had 19 fish in our lines, 8 in the boat and 3 we could keep in 5 hours.
Rick is a great steward of the fish and tags the ones which are released and clips their tails to track their DNA to help document the migratory patterns of the salmon. He is one of a small few who does this.
We had a great day, caught a lot of fish and got to help protect the salmon.

Great trip, great guide. Had a wonderful day with Rick. The weather started off wet but Rick has a really nice boat, with a heated cuddy which made for a pleasant place to keep warm. Rick knows his stuff and has great stories about the areas history, shows a real passion about sportfishing and sharing knowledge about the ocean, currents, winds, tides. The days fish included a oversize salmon which is required to be released but also makes for a better story back home as a "too large to keep" monster. The first bonus was helping Rick tag fish as part of a research program tracking salmon. The second bonus was seeing a pod of Orcas on the way home, making for a perfect day.

We had an excellent time fishing with Rick. He is a friendly, easy going, knowledgeable and highly skilled fishing guide. His boat and gear are clean, comfortable and practical. As a lifelong community member of Campbell River his experience was spot on with quickly getting us into fish and maintaining that throughout the trip. The hours flew by with us landing 8 fish including several large Chinooks. We enjoyed learning about the local ecology and helping him tag, genetically ID non-keepers in order to help understand and support the local communities of fish for future generations. As a lifelong fisherman, who has been fortunate to fish with several guides I attest he is one of the best.

We recently had a three day fishing trip booked with Rick from BrightFish Charters. The experience was unforgettable. Rick was not only extremely knowledgeable, but he was just a great guy. Between my father, my brother, my wife, and my 5 year old twin daughters and myself, we all had a really great experience with Rick. I would highly recommend Rick to anyone looking to go fishing in Campbell River. He made the whole experience a real pleasure.

Rick is a excellent guide and very friendly. he welcomed us on his boat and let us get fully involved in the fishing working as a team, We were eager to learn and his was more than willing to teach us. We had a great day on the water and all went home with some beautiful salmon and memories that will last a life time!

Went with Rick based on excellent online reviews on different venues including this one and he did not disappoint. My wife and son weren't sure what to expect having never gone guided salmon fishing before let alone go on a salmon fishing boat and Rick made the trip fun and engaging and we limited out on Chinook salmon. He even spent extra time with us and even bought us all ice cream at the dock! His knowledge and understanding of salmon races and biology, and his commitment as President of the local guides association shows he gives back both to the resource that supports him and he wants to help uphold and improve the experience for his customers. I highly recommend Rick!

We went fishing with Rick and were ecstatic with the results. Was looking for a guide who was good with children as this was my grandsons first salmon trip. Could not have gone better. Rick was excellent at teaching and let Tyson (grandson] in on every aspect of fishing. We caught plenty of fish and also enjoyed the scenery. Rick is very knowledgeable and informative. We had three generations of family on this trip and will definitely be useing his services in the future. What a great day.
