My wife and I came for the Maple Festival in March 2019. The museum has a lot of promise and it is wonderful to see so many buildings from Western New York’s past preserved in one place. Definitely looking forward to what is next at the village!

This is a good museum if you know what to expect. I had the idea that this would be a village with dozens of buildings to see. This place has only 12 structures and of those, a few have little or no description. They had, for example, a blacksmith shop with no descriptions and no one inside to explain or demonstrate.
On the other hand the museum has a nice indoor museum with great displays of radio, the prohibition and a wonderful Erie Canal room that's great for kids.

First time going. We brought our 2.5 year old for the Halloween trick or treating event. He had a blast. It only took us about 30 minutes to walk through the whole village but I imagine it would take longer if it got busy. All of the volunteers and staff were very welcoming. Looking forward to going again when we can focus on the history rather than the candy.

They have done great improvents to their facilities. Much better than the 80's but now they are costing the tax payers millions of dollars to unnecessarily move their historic village. This caused a tax increase of 11.2% this year, forcing the elderly and poor to move out of amherst because they can not afford the taxes. Shame on you BNHV. Your mission statement says rural several times, yet you are taking millions of dollars from the Amherst tax payers to move to a suburan location. Stay where you are and save the town from this unnecessary expense.

Many historic buildings relocated to the site and restored. The main museum building houses numerous artifacts of local history. Many events spring through fall including the annual Scotish Festival, a must see.

Cute place and neat to experience the living village of days gone by. The tour was informative and cool to see the period actors at their trade.
