Talk about a compact size library! Great if you don't want to get overwhelmed by the larger one by Metrotown Mall, 2 floors of loudness.

Free parking underground, that's nice.

Plenty of seating.

Lots computers to do your thing.

Washrooms on the tinier side.

Friendly librarians.

The Burnaby Public Library, Tommy Douglas Library, located at 7311 Kingsway, is a wonderful resource for the community! The library offers a convenient pick-up service and allows patrons to request books to be ordered on their behalf, making it user-friendly and accessible. Inside, you'll find plenty of computers and spaces designed for studying and reading, providing a welcoming environment for visitors.

For families, the Baby Time and Family Time programs are lovely additions, though it would be even better if these sessions were offered more frequently to meet the community's demand. One minor downside is the limited availability of small meeting spaces for borrowing, which might be a consideration for those needing private spaces.

The library also offers practical parking solutions, with free underground parking and a 15-minute drop-off parking area in the front. Additionally, the outside panel for book returns after hours adds to the library's convenience and flexibility.

Very nice library but it is badly managed. Staff are nice and polite. Library manager is less than polite.

The management of this library seems to not understand that users who come to the library mostly do serious work or study. Users must be able to concentrate with a reasonable degree of quiet. I have sat here for nearly two hours listening to a sizable group of untalented people learning the violin! The noise is loud and obnoxious. This activity must be conducted in an appropriate facility for music performances, not in a library. On my other side is an Indian tutor speaking non-stop and loudly in an effort to teach mathematics to a student who has no aptitude for the subject. Other library users are speaking on their cellphones. In the other corner children are screaming. The noise drives a wise man to insanity and the librarians clearly lack the understanding that a library must be relatively quiet.

You know what it’s a cute library, but too loud. there’s always kids talking someone watching tiktok and 2-3 people sleeping snoring to no end. The area with that separate conference room should be expanded and that side of the library walled off with closed doors- sure, implement some floor to ceiling windows or a sky light- for exclusive silent studying space… please.
