The Cabana resort is impeccably maintained and well thought out so each cabana feels private, there are lots of different places to hang out and explore on Kinghorn Island. Our guides Keegan and Eric made every effort to ensure their guests were having an excellent adventure, which it was! We were blown away by the gourmet meals prepared by chef Faze using fresh local ingredients. We enjoyed the company of the other guests at meal time and during. kayaking adventures. If you’re looking for active outdoor adventure during the day while returning to the lap of luxury afterwards - 100% recommend Cabana Eco Resort, it’s absolutely worth the cost as they’ve gone above and beyond to curate the perfect stay for their guests in breath taking Desolation Sound.

My husband and I just did a 4day kayaking trip in Desolation Sound at the Cabana EcoResort. We loved everything about it! Our guides Keegan and Eric were very knowledgeable, approachable, always safety-oriented and flexible. We were fortunate to have a great group of fellow kayakers, and met some wonderful people from around the world. The Cabana resort exceeded our expectations, and the cabanas were very comfortable and clean. The food was outstanding - fresh, healthy and delicious (thank you Steve)! Desolation Sound did not disappoint. We were blessed with beautiful weather, kayaking in pristine waters, incredible views of surrounding mountains and islands, and plenty of bird and sealife. We would love to go back and do their trip into Toba Inlet !!

10/10 trip! Magical experience that exceeded our high expectations. My wife and I had planned this adventure for over half a year as an anniversary gift for ourselves. We had kayaked on lakes before, but never on the sea, so the option of having a guide take us out on the open seas fit our comfort level. In addition, the option of having a hot shower, a gourmet dinner and a comfortable bed at the end of the day also fit our comfort level. The Cabana was awesome! A beautiful setting, looking out your windows to the sea. A very comfortable bed and great shower. The food was delicious and had a great variety. Chef Steve was awesome! The guides Eric and Kegan were patient, knowledgeable and gave off a welcoming and chill vibe. They put any apprehensions we had away and we had an amazing time. Eric even went the extra mile and took us out at midnight to see the bioluminescence in the bay of the resort. It was a magical experience! We also harvested some oysters on a paddle and returned to the resort to have an oyster cookout with the other guests, before dinner. ||We had such a great time, we are already planning our return trip!

As a non kayaker i was a tinch anxious as we arrived. We were greeted by two young men, Erik and Keegan. They broke the ice within the group and put us all at ease. We were a diverse group ranging from 80-42 and had the most amazing time on Kinghorn island. The entire setting is perfection, the cabins lovely, the walkways connecting the property relaxing on your bare feet, the view points showcasing whales and waves and stars. The food was delicious, maybe a bit sparse, but SO delicious that perhaps that is what left us wanting more. Could have stayed forever.....

Our expectations were exceeded in every way during our experience at Cabana Desolation Eco Resort. Abbey and Keegan, our guides, made us feel safe and secure. Their knowledge of local history and their assistance all contributed to a fantastic Kayak experience. Our Chef Faisal turned out 3 extraordinary meals and snacks everyday in true farm to table fashion. The facilities were rustic, luxurious and immaculately clean. We enjoyed everything and highly recommend Adam and his resort. ||Robert and Andrea

This is an amazing place to spend a few days. The cabins are comfortable and clean, the food is top quality (and very accommodating to our vegan lifestyle), and the staff are relaxed and kind. They even offer classy touches like French press coffee brought to our room each morning. My wife and I stayed for the 2nd time in July 2025. Both times, we have kayaked to the lodge and spent days kayaking on our own. They also offer a guided option. Highly recommend for those who want active plus some touches of luxury!

What a magical experience! Nothing beats hearing a humpback exhale beside you on the water, except maybe tiptoeing through the pitch black forest to jump in the ocean at midnight to see biophosphorescence, or maybe Faisal's lemon posset after a wet and wild kayaking afternoon, or the morning 'alarm' being the call of a raven and fresh locally roasted coffee being delivered to your cabana door. Or learning about big Doug fir and the mice and the rich history and beauty of the sound, despite what 'drama queen' George Vancouver said.....|Major kudos to Eric, Brett, Seb and Faisal, who led, taught, cooked, shared and cared for us, all truly skilled and delightful humans who took us on a trip that was the perfect blend of laidback and luxe, challenge and chill, laughter and learning. Thank you!!

If you're even considering a trip to Cabana Desolation, do it! The guided kayaking trip was a big splurge for our family (2 adults and an 18-year-old) but totally worth the cost. Four days full of wonders and delights: awe-inspiring views and fascinating wildlife everywhere you turn (so many seals!); terrific guides who are eager to answer any questions about the waters, lands, history, flora, and fauna from their deep funds of knowledge (thank you, Brett and Eric!); abundant beautifully-prepared food (thank you, Faisal!); and luxuriously comfortable sleeping quarters with big windows onto the sea (thank you, Laurie and Adam, for building this beautiful place!). We said yes to just about every available option -- snorkeling (the brightly colored sea stars are amazing!), oyster harvesting/ cooking on the beach (yum!!), midnight paddleboarding among the bioluminescent zooplankton (magic!), long and short paddling excursions, hiking on the island -- and every choice was a great one. And everyone we encountered -- from our guides to the fellow guests to the local folks we encountered on excursions and at base camp -- was friendly and helpful and clearly cared deeply about the place we were visiting. Overall, the trip offered a perfect balance of challenge and reward, exertion and relaxation, luxury and sustainability -- a terrific opportunity to experience the wonders of Desolation Sound and feel a bit pampered while still treading lightly. So so glad we took this trip -- hope you can, too!
