Canoeing the Grand is absolutely five stars, staff is so nice and helpful, and they make everything very easy for you to enjoy a day out on the water!

Essentially: you make your booking, arrive at the business, which has a small-ish parking lot, but it's manageable. Hand in your waivers, they give you equipment and drive you out to a drop off point of your choice, help you launch, and you're set to go! I don't know how this could be run better.

Grateful to this business for helping me, my friends, and family enjoy quite a few nice days together now. Have done big groups and small and going to try their tubing next.

It’s my first time kayak, I chosen the most popular route, Breslau launch point. Everything is great. The kayak is in good shape. The river is flat and slow flow. the staffs are very helpful, friendly and flexible. I will definitely come back. Next time I will try the intermediate route, and my target is finish one of the advanced routes in this summer.
To someone may worry about lack of paddle experience, I have some canoe paddle experience, some common sense about river, water flow, paddle control etc. for me it is good enough. Come here to try and enjoy.

Canoeing the Grand is a local gem! This is the best water sports activity you can find in the waterloo region.

We have been back for 3 consecutive years, and we will continue!

They offer various length excursions, where they provide all of the gear and shuttle you up stream on the Grand River, and you just have to paddle your way back to the starting point where you parked your vehicle.

We have done the Breslau (10km) and Kaufman Flats (20km) trips with canoes and kayaks. After a few times, our preference is single kayaks because it allows you a little more freedom to explore the river as you wish.

Shelly Jo offered a great customer experience, as well as the other staff.

For wildlife enthusiasts or people who want to avoid the heat, I would recommend a springtime trip! We went during the first weekend of May this year, and it was a great contrast to our previous summer trips. The water level was higher, and that made it easier to navigate some of the shallower parts of the river. The trees were just starting to bud, and the grasses were short along the banks, so it made spotting birds much easier. We saw wild turkeys, many great blue herons, and even a bald eagle!

This place is a 10/10, would recommend. I will include some photos from our May 2025 and July 2024 trips.

The weather was great today to enjoy this stretch of the grand river. It was relaxing and shallow, so there’s no worry of getting hurt. We rested on a small rock island and took the dog. He enjoyed it 🙂

Had such an amazing time Canoeing the Grand today! It all started when we met Shelly Jo, the owner. She is an absolute delight and instantly put us at ease for our first canoe with our dog. We were the only ones out on the river today and we saw geese, ospreys, and heron. It was an incredibly peaceful and fun afternoon with the sun shining. We will be back for fall when the leaves change. Thanks again Shelly!

I've had a great time with each kayak trip through canoing the grand. Don't forget your binoculars to see more of the beautiful nature.

This is a great excursion for a family, couple, or anyone looking to be on the water.

Attention nature and bird lovers!!!
Want to see a bunch of our Region's nature jam packed into 1 outing? This is the outing for you.

You can expect to see:
- blue herrons
- ducks
- sandpipers
- tuekeys
- swallows **
- hawks and ospreys
- and *ahem* an EAGLE!
- beavers or other small critters

**= You may catch a show of swallows diving along the water to catch bugs. They fly so gracefully along the water that it looks like they're dancing.

It's definitely a 10/10 experience and worth coming back through the different seasons.

My husband and I had a great time kayaking down the Grand! We saw many blue herons and enjoyed a relaxing ride down the river. The owner is awesome, and provided lots of great information!
