This is the second time we have stayed here and, as always, Garry and Shelly were excellent hosts. In the Bonavista area this is the place to stay. Accomodations are very comfortable, early morning coffee provided, breakfasts made to order the night before, tea, treats and conversation shared at the end of the day - Wow! Within walking distance of the historic town of Port Union and so many other attractions that Garry and Shelly can suggest visiting. Always a pleasure to stay here, looking forward to a third visit. Five stars!

My wife and I stayed three nights at Captain Blackmore's B&B. Gary and Shelly were wonderful hosts and provide fantastic service to their guest. We loved the old historic home and the history behind it. In the mornings Gary provided coffee upstairs by our room and we would enjoy having our first cup of coffee looking out on the ocean. Their home was one of our best stays for value, comfort, and dedicated serve by the hosts. You will love staying here, John and Linda

A very comfortable B&B … everything that we read about The Manor was very positive, so we arranged to stay in their G&F Blackmore Room; cozy room, 2 single beds + ensuite … allowed for quiet and restful sleeps. Staying at The Manor allowed us to explore the Bonavista Peninsula easily! || ||Every night we had homework, we needed to select what we would like prepared for breakfast and at what time they should expect us. In a wonderfully civilized move, each of our 3 nights found us sitting in the dining room enjoying a cuppa and a shared plate of fruit, cheese & crackers and tasty squares – along with all of the other Manor guests plus our hosts. WOW! What an incredible experience, as we share the wonders of the area, plus travelling tips, enjoying each other’s company plus having Gary & Shelly’s vast knowledge of the peninsula! (this is also when we handed in our homework) || ||Every morning around 7:00 a.m. Gary would make morning coffees available outside our rooms! Breakfasts were delicious, and magnificently prepared. Afterwards being excused from the table, you could take your cuppa to the sitting room by the water or outside on the deck – a wonderful way to start the day!|| ||From the moment you walk through the door until you leave you are made to feel absolutely welcome. Our hosts encouraged us to use their laundry facilities (and supplies) if we had the need – we accepted.|| ||A person could get very used to staying here, as everything exceeded our expectations!

My husband, my daughter and I stayed here for one night while we saw a play nearby. Our hosts were gracious and welcoming. The house has been beautifully restored and is very comfortable. During our tour of the property, we oohed and ahhed at every turn. When we arrived back after the play, we were met with a tray of cheese and crackers, fresh fruit and some homemade sweets. And breakfast the next morning was exceptional! Fresh fruit, freshly made blueberry mini muffins, fresh coffee. Then our made to order omelettes, and French toast with scrambled eggs for my daughter. When we left, we felt like we were saying good-bye to friends. The setting was beautiful and I hope we can return one day to continue our exploration.

This place is incredible. We were met at the door and after introductions, the host retrieved our bags from the car and carried them to our room. He also returned them at the end of our stay. Our room was very clean and all amenities provided. The room was also tidied each day. Breakfast was individualized and also piping hot. Conversation flowed among guests and hosts both at breakfast and evening tea. A comfortable sitting area overlooked the bay, and refreshments were offered after returning from a day’s outing. The hosts were very knowledge and passionate about the area they call home.

We've been here to Captain Blackmore's Heritage Manor, oh, it's got to be eight times (so far). Check out the comments about this wonderful B&B on a travel site such as TripAdvisor; the reviews are consistently full marks. The owners, Shelly and Garry Blackmore, will be a big part of your memories to a most memorable area of this patch of Eden. The breakfasts are delicious and filling, the rooms are impeccable and comfortable, the touring advice from Garry and Shelly (and the other guests!) is interesting and helpful. Finally, the evening get-togethers over tea, coffee and treats with the other guests and Shelly and Garry are fun and informative, where strangers become friends and exchange experiences and plans for the next day.

Oh, just do yourself and your blood pressure a favour, and get thee to Port Union and the rest of the Bonavista Peninsula.
