I'd give a 0 star based on ONE major issue---safety/security. We discovered one serious problem here: the mall security/safety for patrons.

We were at the mall on Saturday August 9 for lunch. Suddenly the food court lady/cleaner dropped onto the floor, and went completely unconscious for a couple of minutes! People panicked!! My church friends and I immediately took action. Called 911 and asked store owners to find security.

The store owners told people around/us that they don't see the security until late afternoon!!!!! So no security!!! My friend called management but no one returned the call. My friend tried again a day later. Management gave a quick thank you, and just dismissed it by saying he'll speak to the "boss"!

The mall has revealed that they need to look at this seriously: first aid training, making AEDs available on the wall in case of heart attacks/cardiac arrests, hire security guards for the whole day, not just half a day...etc etc..

With so many seniors and patrons in that mall, they can't compromise the public and their own staffs' health and safety!!!

Glad my friend and I managed to get through to 911 quickly, and that the mall staff regained consciousness!

I will update this review if the situation improves. For now, shoppers beware 😥!!

I haven't been here in 20 years since we moved out of the area. They have changed the mall layout since the BMO took over half of the mall. Currently it's basically a nice food court, a nice full-service banquet style Chinese restaurant, Chinese bakery, few knick-knack shops, frozen dim sum shop and the bank. You basically need a purpose to come here because it's not a shopping place anymore.

Chartwell Shopping Centre is a relatively small indoor mall targeting primarily Chinese customers. It might feel a bit dated but the shops have decent prices. In the plaza, there are a variety of shops, including Bestco supermarket and Dollarama.

The food court restaurants here are great. Pricing is phenomenal. I had bitter melon on rice with tea for under $10. You can order a dinner for three for $27.

This shopping plaza is fairly unique as it's a mix of indoor mall and outdoor open air mall. There's a lot of good tenants here. The main anchor being the two supermarkets, CIBC, BMO, dollarama and the Chinese restaurant.
The sushi restaurants is also fairly packed as well.
Parking can still be fairly challenging during lunch time on the weekends when your competing with people shopping, buying groceries and those looking for a bite.

2018 4★ The center has some good tenants. CIBC, dollarama, pizza pizza, supermarket and AYCE japanese sushi as well as a good (expensive) dim sum place. The place has a good number of parking spots, but if it gets really busy, it can be packed.

Small little Chinese shopping centre with a large supermarket, Dollarama, and sushi restaurant at the other end of the plaza. They also have a Timmies, CIBC, and other shops there. The main plaza consists of a foodcourt where you can get some cheap eats.
