I was at the City of Pickering yesterday, May 5, 2025 honouring the victims of the Lapu Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver. The City of Pickering City Hall is a beautiful landmark for its residents and one with remarkable architectural design. It was also clean all over including its surrounding grounds.

Worst city to live in! The City of Pickering is so busy counting Property taxe$$$ that they forgot to clear the streets taxpayers walk on! $419K condo Property taxes are $5128 a year!!! But the city has no courtesy and responsibility to clear pedestrians' paths outside of Pickering GO where so many commuters living in nearby areas walk home. Take a look at the pictures after today's storms. The time is 5:24pm but the Bayly sidewalks were NOT cleared. The pile of snow, slippery made it so hard to walk, with no other option as highspeed cars on the Bayly Street, scary! Truly regret moving to Pickering. You can see all the garbage from the GO Train between the train track and the sloppy 401 roadside. just disgusting!!!

Absolutely ridiculous! Pickering parking enforcement is out of control. They’re notorious for constantly handing out tickets for side street parking that goes even a little over the 3 hour limit. It’s like they’re waiting to pounce the moment the clock runs out.

No grace, just tickets after tickets. This isn’t about safety or traffic flow. it’s a blatant cash grab from residents who live and pay taxes here. Beyond frustrating and a total waste of city resources. Do better, Pickering.

This city has literal secret segregation going on within Pickering and ajax. Black people and white people are not blending at all in neighborhoods and school ‘cause there has been bullying, abuse, and unreported hate crimes going on. There is an extremely high rate of racism that NO ONE talks about.

Been living in Durham region for 25 years. The greater part of my time was in whitby and Oshawa. I've been in pickering for 4 years now. By far the worst place I've lived. I was parked on a side street with a 3 hour limit and I got a ticket exactly 15 minutes after the time I parked for exceeding the 3 hour limit... giving people tickets unlawfully is absurd. Secondly, as trying as times are for all of us Canadians, Pickering found it appropriate to open a casino for its citizens to go broke. Pickering can go to hell. I can't wait to leave.

Grew up here during my teens. The population has grew dramatically since I first moved here. Overall it's a decent city to live in. Lots of more stores and places are being built.

I filled out a request form about a dead rat and lots of bones thrown around from the recent ribfest. I got a voice mail from Pickering customer care: wild life is not in the city's mandate and allow nature to take its course. Animal service doesn't pick up unless animals are contained. Rubbish!
I'm sorry but this is a rodent (not a coyote) and the smell of it's rotted carcass was polluting my air especially when it's hot out. Inhaling it; I'm sure we're breathing in bacteria (public health issue), never mind the urge of vomiting. Going for walks in the neighborhood is pityful. My dog ate one of the cooked bones found 2 days after ribbfest. Vet bills are expensive from the amount of trash discarded. The recreational area around city hall and chestnut hill centre is use by some people who don't put their food garbage in the trash cans provided. Users need to be mindful. By-law needs to enforced fines and the city needs to charge extra fees to organiziers.

The surroundings are disgusting ; unhoused people using public spaces is an eyesore and unhygienic; dead mice and squirrels in the parks & walkways; illegal trash dumped on sidewalks and parks; people vomiting in bus shelters and walkways; the food bank distribution site on Pickering Parkway cause traffic headaches with cars parked illegally on both side of the streets; cars speeding frequently through the Parkway and Valley Farm Road; graffiti and vandalized power electrical boxes; the Caprent apartments and properties need maintenance (sheets hung on windows are trashy and brings no value to the area)and the list goes on. The esplanade and the surrounding area used to look good a decade ago, but the growth of the city caused many of these issues.
