Initially 1 star on basis of our unsatisfactory check-in experience but now at the end of our stay happy to rate higher. Higher rating based on the response and apology from the General Manager and taking in to consideration the other aspects that reviews are based on.

Original review:
Only just checked in and not impressed at all. I dropped my wife off with our luggage while I had to drop off a rental car across town. Reception would not complete the check in and let my wife go to our room because she did not have a credit card with her for the incidentals deposit. I kept it in case needed at the rental car office. We are staying here for four nights and have paid several hundred dollars for the stay in advance. I understand all hotels take the $100 deposit but surely let my wife go to our room and for me to provide the credit card when I get here. If you don’t trust me to do that then don’t let me stay in your hotel for 4 nights. Have some understanding that we are the customers, we have been travelling all day. Already told reception what I think and all I hear is “it’s the protocol and thank you for your understanding”. Repeated several times. Oh and given two small bottles of water as some sort of apology !!! Then when I asked where the lifts were the receptionist then remembered to go through the general information she should have already provided to me.if Management or guest services care to reply to me on here please do not give me “it’s the protocol” line because I’m sick of hearing it.

The front desk service was lovely, the location was convenient, and the lobby was beautiful. Our king room was basic, but clean and quiet, which is all we needed. Deducting one star because we were surprised that parking wasn’t included. The only parking option was valet for $35/day, which is a significant added cost for a multi-day trip!

Had a great 2-day stay with family at Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Calgary. Staff were warm and welcoming, food was excellent, and the hotel was spotless with a fresh, clean feel everywhere. Overall, a wonderful experience—we’ll definitely be back!

We had a great time here. My girlfriend proposed to me and we were celebrating our engagement. Marriott went above and beyond with cake and drinks. Really thankful to Kathlyn who helped us during our stay, she made it extra special for us.
Would recommend to those travelling through Calgary. Would come back again!

One of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had. The lobby feels luxurious, yet the prices are some of the best in Calgary. The staff were beyond friendly and helpful when I arrived on a later-than-expected flight at 2am, helping me quickly get settled into my room and making sure I had everything. This would be my top hotel choice next time I’m back in the city. The rooms were spacious and clean, very modern, and the bathrooms were beautiful. I’m not sure what I expected but this was beyond expectations for the price. I was very pleased.

I was completely blown away by this hotel! When we first pulled up, we were surprised to find that they had valet parking. As soon as we stepped into the lobby, we both looked at each other and thought “woahhhh” The staff was incredibly friendly right from the get go, and continued to be beyond lovely and helpful through our entire stay. The elevator was clean, and as soon as we popped out of the elevator and into the hallway, it smelled new and was also extremely clean. When we walked into the room, I was completely shocked - it blew my expectations out of the water! Not only was it pristine and well appointed, the vibes…THE VIBES! Beautifully decorated, modern, amazing lighting and an amazing view, even from the 7th floor. I originally booked this hotel because of the price and the location, but we will absolutely be returning because of how beautiful this hotel was. There are 3 restaurants (3!? How amazing!) and though we didn’t dine-in, we ordered room service a couple of times and it was delicious! We cannot wait to come back, and will absolutely book this hotel over and over again.

I travel to Calgary quite often and have stayed in several hotels throughout the city. Without a doubt, Courtyard Hotel has been the best in terms of cleanliness and hygiene.

If you’re someone like me who places the highest importance on the cleanliness of your hotel room, then don’t even hesitate for a second—this is the place to stay.

The room was so spotless that it felt like everything in it was brand new, as if I were the very first guest to ever stay there.

The only minor issue I experienced was low water pressure in the shower. I suspect this was a temporary issue related to the city’s water infrastructure on the night of my stay (just my bad luck), because the fixtures themselves were modern and in perfect condition.

But honestly, I was so impressed with everything else—especially the cleanliness—that I’m not even deducting a star for that. If I could give 7 stars instead of 5, I absolutely would!

I will definitely be coming back to this hotel, and it’s now one of my go-to choices whenever I visit Calgary.
