On booking.com it said in the room there was a hot tub so when we arrived that was disappointing because I wouldn't have even booked the room if I knew that and then I couldn't do the security deposit on my debit so I had to go walk over to the casino to take out money because they had no ATM on site. I also thought it was ridiculous that they asked for a $500 security deposit where other hotels ask for $300 the most that I've experienced. The pool and hot tub were under construction so couldn't even use those, the parking in the back was not very accessible for a big truck and trailer. And at 5:30 in the morning they were snow blowing right outside the window. And in the morning the coffee tasted like mildew. Definitely will never come back to this hotel.

Upon arriving and checked into room the smell was horrendous. Found feces on furniture foot stool that was obviously never cleaned by staff or removed from room. When booking room, website did not indicate that the pool was closed due to being dirty and spiders in the hot tub. No TV service as the box was "missing" to watch TV. There was feminine hygiene products plugging the smoke detector and was not removed by cleaning staff. It's obviously that retraining needs to be done and inspections done after rooms have been serviced before new guests arrive. Avoid this hotel.

Elevators smell like butt.....not sure what exactly the smell is but I think they need to remove the carpet. Pool is small and kids get bored quick.....no microwave in the rooms....well at least not in our room. I thought that was standard nowadays but I could be wrong.

Other than that very nice place....clean rooms, quick service if you need anything. The breakfast is really good and the restaurant food at night is good and reasonably priced. Staff is polite. Would stay again.

The only good thing about this place was the deposit fee it was fair and now it’s higher from 250 to 500 it doubled because of some party hard people who don’t believe manners or being responsible we should not have to pay for there mistakes trust me the rooms are not worth it

I stayed here for 2 nights while working in the region. The serene views out my window were beautiful, absolutely incredible artwork throughout the lobby by local artist Alex Janvier, comfy beds, delicious refreshments in the lobby, and really wonderful staff that were friendly and helpful. After a light rain the smell of the trees outside was so refreshing. I didn’t get a chance to pop into the casino but I definitely plan to be back and do that next time!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed 4 nights and my daughter and husband seemed to be getting more bites with each passing night, then I found what appeared to be blood on the sheets of the pull out couch in our room, the couch cushion had stains on it as well. The breakfast was good and hot and the staff in the kitchen were hard workers.
On the 3 day we ran out of toilet paper and I had to ask the staff for more because during that 3 day period no one had come in to our room to replenish anything or empty any garbage. We went to the pool everyday and I guarantee the deck or the pool itself was never cleaned, I saw hair everywhere and bits from pool floaties that were there the night before were still there the next day. I really hope we haven't brought bed bugs back to our home.
On our next trip to Cold Lake I will look to stay elsewhere.

I would’ve given 5 stars if it didn’t stink so bad in the elevator. The breakfast buffet is awesome & that’s what i come back for! Lol The rooms and beds are comfortable & clean. Although, we were disappointed we didn’t have a bathtub & the lack of a shower curtain had our bathroom floor soaking wet.

This was our first time in Cold Lake and at Hotel Dene. We initially called and asked if they would price match the price from Expedia ($89) in which the lady agreed. However when we arrived the lady said there's no rate for that, etc. So we end up paying the FN rate (ok fine). Later we realized she was supposed to send us an email confirmation of our booking (didn't receive). Front desk personnel could brush up on their friendliness/customer service skills. Security was super friendly and helpful. One elevator was out of service (should have had a sign rather than pushing it each time n waiting). Elevators were quite dirty and had a strange smell. Rooms were modern, bed was clean and comfortable, nice decor. Bathroom sink was plugged and shower pressure sprayed all over. We had to request for our room to be clean and ask for clean towels. Location was great, walking distance to the casino. They did accommodate a late checkout which was nice. However upon checkout I requested a receipt to be emailed - in which was not. The pool had some hair and what not floating around which was a little off putting. Restaurant doesn't open until 5pm. Overall, it was a nice hotel, good location, with customer service improvements and cleaning it could be a lot better. I don't think this would be our first choice if we return.
