I had not moved in over 25 years never hired a moving company before wanted to hire local. Have nothing bad to say about the ladies in the office they were great. First off the movers were late. I was quoted a 4-5 hour job which ended up taking over 8 hours due to the fact that instead of sending 3 capable experienced workers they sent 2 and 1 new kid ( 2nd day on the job ) who didn’t have a clue what he was doing and couldn’t lift anything. He basically stood around for most of day. The guy who drove the truck ( the same one who did my estimate) was the rudest man I have ever met he sat on his behind in the truck the entire time on his phone. One of the experienced guys was packing the truck so the house was emptied by only one guy because the new guy was useless so the move out took as long as what he estimated my entire move would be.
When we finally got to my new place even though things were marked everything was everywhere. I was finding boxes of clothing and bedding in the shed the next day.
The only time the guy in the truck stepped out of the truck was when he came to tell me that I owed them another $1000. Move ended up costing me $2000 He wouldn’t even consider the fact of having only 2 guys ( who worked very hard ) He then proceeded to start to yell at them to hurry up that they were off the clock and needed to get out of there. The 2 young men who did the move worked extremely hard and were very polite.
I will never recommend them to anyone.

I moved my parents back in September and got my first rental truck from Daystar and the experience was perfect. Sue took care of us in a very professional and friendly manner.
In February I needed a truck again and again the experience was perfect. Again Sue had everything ready and I paid what was quoted, no hidden fees.
Today I needed a truck again and of course would only deal with Daystar and Sue and again had a great experience with them. Thanks Sue for always taking care of us and for being friendly and professional. Till next time

I decided to go with Daystar to rent our moving truck because my mom recommended I use them as her friends have used them in the past.
I had a very pleasant call with the lady working there. She was friendly, personable and knowledgeable and I have nothing bad to say about her at all.
However, the gentleman (I am assuming Dave from the other reviews) is the reason that I will never recommend this company to anyone, nor will I ever use them again.
He was arrogant, rude and lacked the basic customer service skills that are expected with any transaction. I am honestly surprised that they are not out of business already. It was our move in day into our first home (which should be exciting, and happy) and he certainly started my day off on a horrible note.

Unfortunately, I wanted to support a local business and it is a shame because I am sure that they will lose more and more customers in the future if they do not change the way that they run their business.

Very disappointed in this moving company. They were an hour and a half late getting started which didn't set the tone properly. Very rough with our belongings. Lots and lots of scratches, damages, and broken items. When we asked about this the answer was 'you have home insurance' which doesn't cover moving by the way! Truck broke down which delayed everything once again. We didn't get our stuff until the next day. The lads moving don't seem to be trained properly to move people and even though boxes were marked with room names, this was completely ignored and boxes ended up everywhere. Unfortunately I cannot recommend them.

Seemed like we made a good choice when I hired Daystar to move my family. The owner seemed friendly and knowledgeable. After reading and hearing a couple of bad reviews I began to worry. When I initially interviewed Dave, we had asked him the "what if's"
I was told not to worry cause his staff has been with his company for over 20 years and they are very careful and in the event that damage does happen Daystar would make it right. Well how wrong that statement is.
His crew consisted of three men, two of them where only 20years old (according to my math they we're only little babies when they got hired) and after I talked to the third gentleman to find out he only has worked for Daystar for 7 years.
None the less the crew did work hard and carefully for the most part. unfortunately they did break 2 tiles in the hallway of the house that I had sold by dropping a fridge. There also scratch the wall while trying to get the couches down the stairs. When I talked to Dave about how we were going to take care of the tiles, he told me that its my problem not his. Tells me he can't be responsible for that kind of damage.
Very disappointed in this response cause I try my hardest to give my business to local companies knowing that it helps our town. Unfortunately I can NOT recommend this company due Dave's poor attitude.

I hired Daystar to complete our move in Keswick and another family member from Toronto to Keswick. Paul, along with his two colleagues, were the crew sent to complete both moves. We also rented an additional truck through their front office. They worked very hard, provided great communication throughout the move, showed great attention to ensuring minimal damage to anything, and we’re very respectful and friendly. Thank you for your professionalism and service, well done!

Read all the other reviews. The are accurate based on my experience. I'll add that the rental truck I had felt unsafe and I got pulled over by the police who did a lengthy exam of the vehicle at the road side to ensure it was fit for the road.

It took me over 45 mins to get my rental truck. Anytime I've been to Ryder or U-Hull its been less than 10 mins. I was waiting at the door at 8:30am and the guy shows up at 8:40am and I am greeted with, "You're here for?" with lots of attitude. No apology for being late, even when I called the day before and stated the time I would be there. Never again would I use this company and like everyone else who wrote a review I cannot recommend them at all.
