(Coming from a HR background) - This has been the worst insurance company I’ve ever dealt with. They are consistently slow at responding, make it difficult to submit a claim, are extremely stingy, and fight relentlessly to avoid paying out legitimate claims. If your organization values the well-being and satisfaction of its employees, I strongly advise choosing a different provider.

My husband’s company carries this health insurance. I had to fill out a questionnaire to be added on.
I was honest, and I told them that there had been some mental health issues in the past, to which I had taken 3 different psychotherapies to change the way my brain was programmed as a result of trauma.
I did that successfully over 5 years ago (without the use of medication) and now I lead a very calm and peaceful life. I overcame so much and worked very hard to be mentally and emotionally healthy.
Now equitable has denied me benefits. Also important to note is that I have benefits of my own and these would be secondary. They said we could appeal and have my doctor write to them with any pertinent information. I did that. My doctor vouched that there are no longer any concerns with my mental health and that I had successfully completed those therapies (DBT, CBT, and CPT). Equitable sent an email back to my doctor and in it they told my doctor that they would not reconsider because of my mental health past of trauma. That’s the kind of people these are. They will discriminate against someone for going through trauma and then working very hard to overcome it. I was so proudly writing on that questionnaire of what I had overcome and it never even dawned on me that it was something that would be held against me.

I've submitted my forms at least 12 times and keep getting replies that I am missing information or missing forms. WHEN IVE SCANNED EVERY ONE IN OR FILLED EVERYONE OUT. Who knew including my spouse into my benefits was so difficult. I've done the same process each time and it's not good enough...when it's exactly what is asked for. My husband's work is through the same exact company he didn't have to do this for me....WHY DO I GET THE RUN AROUND FOR HIM?

Professional time-wasters and accountability-dodgers. Upholding the name of private insurance, à la Américaine. Thank god we live in a country where most healthcare steers clear of sinkholes like these.

The service people are all friendly and well-intentioned but the system is rotten to the core. I got three different explanations for the same claim from two people.

Worst insurance ever. I did a massage by RMT they're supposed to pay 80%, and they did not pay 80 % they paid what they feel like .they paid 80 % of $118 .I paid more than $118 for the massage, and they're just deciding that
the maximum I should have spent is $118, after i pay my money. and they did not state this in the company's handbook. They do not state this on the coverage, but after I spend my money, they are saying this. I tell you they are scammers. people should stop signing up with these criminals because they don't want you to spend the money they want to keep it .

I find this business lacks professionalism as well as urgency.
No communication within nor with client.
Would not recommend doing any kind of business with them.
