We went to the muscle and lobster boil with Jim. He taught us about the muscle and lobster fishing industry on PEI from personal experience! It was very educational. And his wife cooked the muscles and lobsters along with amazing potato salad, biscuits, and desert!

Plus hand made souvenirs!

The Beachcombers Clam Boil with Jim was awesome. After a short lesson regarding clams and oysters we headed to the private beach to collect these items utilizing our newly acquired knowledge. Jim provided us a chance to have an oyster at the shore and saved the shell as a keepsake for our experience. Once we had collected enough for the three people in my group, we moved to a rustic screened shack were we were provided coffee, tea, muscles, and warm bread. Jim shared his many fishing stories as the clams and oysters cooked. We ate our findings and finished the lunch with fresh strawberries. Jim was friendly, knowledgeable and provided an authentic PEI experience. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking to have a unique seafood experience.

P.S. washroom on site, bring shoes or boots for walking in shallow water, dress for the weather, allow 2 - 2 1-2 hours for the experience and say hi to Jim’s wife for us because she was super nice too!

Who knew a potato and farm machinery tour would be this exciting!!!!! But, wow! All the old planters and sorters and engines all run, so it was fun to hear stories from 3 generations of potato farmers direct from Poppy (grandpa) and Brett (grandson) and get up close and personal with the machinery used for 150 years to farm potatoes in PEI. We got to see the refrigerated potato storage barns, the irrigation system, and walk into a potato field. We had a wonderful time!

Beachcomber's Clam Boil on Points East Coastal Drive, Cardigan, PEI was our favourite adventure on our family trip! And with the great things to do and the awesome people we meet each day in PEI, that's saying alot. Host Jim is the kind of person who instantly makes you feel welcome, and carefully explains (with lots of laughter amongst our group) how to dig for clams and about conservation. Our 5 year old attached himself like a barnacle to Guide Tristan, who was very patient with his high-energy participation. We found many clams and even some oysters in the shallow water and beach and later Jim cooked them to perfection. We even ate oysters we found right on the beach!! It doesn't get any fresher. We had also added on lobster to our Beachcombers Clam Boil tickets, and Jim includes PEI mussles too, so we were really full (and really happy). Extras like homestyle potato salad and butter buns were tasty too. This is an authentic local "farm" to table (river to table) experience, in a natural outdoor environment. It is not a prepackaged high-maintenance haute-cuisine tour. So if real fun with real people is what you are looking for, you will love it. Need some agility to climb down and back up a staircase to/from water. And like the website says, bring watershoes, sunscreen and bug spray. We had a windy day so bugs weren't an issue. Check out the pics of the massive blue fin tuna on the wall in the dining terrace -- Jim has some stories that will blow your mind. Thanks for sharing your home with us Jim!

Maurice and his two apprentices were so much fun to work with and such good teachers. We learned lots of techniques that demystified sandcastle making for me. I wish we had booked two sessions and could have stayed all day! The simple tools they taught us to use produce amazing results. I would highly recommend this experience. You will not regret it!

Stumbled upon the lobster boil experience provided by Jim. My partner and I were lucky enough to be the only guests that evening and felt truly spoiled by Jim’s hospitality and entertainment. He is an incredibly captivating and kind person - our evening and meal prepared by him was a highlight of our trip! Thank you Jim.

One of the real highlights of our 25-day HAL cruise aboard the Zaandam was the stop in PEI — made all the better by our “A Taste of Charlottetown: Culinary Walk” tour. Our tour guide Joanne was extraordinary, and Charlottetown was super!
Experience PEI rocks!
