This is our second year in a row fishing with Darren, I won't say he's the sole reason we came back this year, but if this was the only thing we did the entire time we would have been happy. Darren always has a story for you and listening to him talk about the area will make you fall in love with it just as much as he is.
He knows where the fish are and he is a wealth of knowledge, about the fish and the area.
If you come to Newfoundland and only do one thing, make sure it's this. It is well worth it and we will be back.

I researched many places to have my first ever cod fishing experience. When travelling to Western Newfoundland, I wanted an authentic experience, fishing from a dory with a local (not a charter or large tour boat). My group and I hit the jackpot with Darren. He was such a happy-go-lucky guy who loves to be outside and fishing. He put us onto fish immediately and we fortunate enough to have many with double- and triple-headers. We caught our quota of cod, several mackerel, and even caught one sculpin and an Atlantic wolffish (scary looking). Throughout the fishing experience, Darren told us stories, taught us local geology, and showed us local wildlife (eagles). He was a great communicator when booking the tour (several months beforehand) and a few days before the tour when confirming. He even went out of his way to help us find last-minute accommodations when our other accommodations fell through less than 3 days before our trip (our group was coming from Ontario and Alberta). In summary, Darren is a top-notch guy and cod fishing guide. Without hesitation, I would book a cod fishing experience with him again and I would recommend him to host your tour. Thank you Darren for creating such a wonderful memory.

One hour drive from deer lake to Cox’s Cove. All the way along is beautiful. A Very quiet and peaceful small town. We got 11 mackerels on the morning trip. Pretty lucky! The first time I have ever got a fish! Beautiful scenery.

Had a terrific morning with Darren! Although it’s getting late and everything but mackerel is closed, he put us on the fish! Morning started out very cold and slow but it didn’t take long we were on the right spot. He’s lived here his whole life and shows his knowledge and pride in the area. Took us to his cabin across the bay for a fry up lunch and it was delicious. Great way to warm up. Thanks for a great day

Booked this for my partner and our teenage son for this morning - Mr.Park took them out before the rain hit, and they had the best experience. Excellent communication and service, sturdy boats, and knowledgeable guide. They got to enjoy a beautiful sunrise on the water, and Mr.Park even called an eagle to his boat! They caught five species of fish and Mr.Park cleaned and got it ready for them to bring back to our accommodations - including a bag of his homegrown garden potatoes to enjoy with our fish supper. Would 100% recommend, and will definitely be on the dory myself the next time we're in this area!

Darren is a fantastic guide and host. Any trip to the West Coast of NL must include a trip on his Dory! We had an incredible tour seeing him feed a Bald Eagle ? and watching in it flight!

Darren is the best and he gets you on the fish!! We had four of us in the dory and we all got fish! We got mackerel, Red Fish, Cod. We saw a giant blue fin tuna and bald eagles out on the water. Darren showed us around Bay of Islands as we fished. All equipment was included and he's super helpful. If you want to truly experience Newfoundland, you should do this activity!

I’d come back to Newfoundland just to do this tour all over again. I promise you’ll get your money worth here!!! so so much fun!! couldn’t recommend enough
