This was a lovely experience. I loved hearing about the history of Hamilton and the staff were very warm and engaging. I wanted a more guided tour of the castle and they explained that that is freely available for anyone with a local library card. I'm looking forward to going back and spending more time. I recommend taking an earlier tour so there's enough light to see the sites during the bus tour portion.

I've done 4 tours with Ghost Walks over the last few years (Niagara-on-the-Lake, Castle Kilbride, Dundurn Castle and the Hermitage Ruins). All of the walks have been quite well organized, with well presented stories and entertaining story tellers.

My latest experience was last night (Sept 20) at the Hermitage Ruins. I attended with my wife and our teenage daughters. The walk to the ruins and associated stories were entertaining, and we were given 10 minutes to wander the ruins as the next group arrived. Our company experience quickly soured at this point, as our guide, Tyler, left with the group without properly announcing or making sure the group was there. My wife and I were separated from our kids, and spent the last 15 minutes of the evening trying to find our kids on the dark grounds, not knowing where the tour group moved on to. Ultimately another staff member was able to point us in the direction of the tour, and we were reunited with our kids on the parking lot.

Our kids later told us that Tyler asked if everyone was there before moving on, saying, "Oh well, close enough" when seeing not everyone was there, and proceed to move along without all of the group.

My wife and I were not the only ones left behind, as I came across another tour group visitor on the phone trying to find the group as well.

This experience has left a bad taste in my mouth with this company, and I would not attend an outdoor event with them again. If you do go on this tour, be sure to stay with the guide at the ruins, and don't believe them when they say you will have time to explore and they will announce when they move on.

Done the Niagara on the lake ghost tour twice and a few weeks back my family and I decided to do the Hermitage and we loved it! Our elderly father can’t walk through the forest so that’s why we do the Niagara on the lake ghost tour with him:) Walking through the forest hearing all the stories was super and our guide…I forget his name but he’s an older gentleman who is a fantastic storyteller! Thanks for the great experience!

I went of the "Dark History of Hamilton" tour last week. It was very interesting. I lived in Hamilton for a few years while I was attending McMaster and our guide, Daniel, taught me so much about my once-adopted city that I didn't know about. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He clearly loves what he does. (Daniel, you're not a teacher by any chance, are you?) I actually went to my local library a couple of days later and got out some books about the Torso Murder. I would recommend this tour to anyone.

What a great adventure and such gracious tour hosts! Daniel is as super as it gets and Erin, our group tour guide ( lantern in hand ) dressed in themed garb, was absolutely delightful. What a fun way to spend a couple of hours learning about history stories you can only get from oral tradition... and hey, you also get your 'steps' in for the day! A good Heart healthy tour in every way!

I went with a group of friends on the Hermitage ruins tour and it was fun and spooky experience. Erin was a great storyteller and we had a lovely time speaking with her on the way back!

Can’t recommend the Dark Trolley tour lead by Ghost Guide Daniel high enough! The tour is the perfect length, the trolley comfortable (better than walking), the scenery and ambiance was perfect and then we get to the incredible stories that were shared. Everything from mobsters to shipwrecks to the war of 1812… There was not a dull moment on this tour. Ghost Guide Daniel is super knowledgeable, friendly and makes history come alive in a fun and entertaining way!
