Be careful of this place! We called ahead to confirm the room we were staying in was pet friendly for our anniversary one night getaway. They ensured us we were allowed our dogs. We paid $100 for a pet deposit for damages (if occurred). When checking out the woman at the front desk told us we would not be refunded due to pet hair on the bed. 1) anyone who has pets knows that there is no escaping it. Whether they're on furniture or not 2) No one told us the 'rules' for the 'pet friendly' rooms. I guess just make sure you have a hairless animal if you stay here or don't bring one at all. They hold you to expectations for room upkeep that they cannot achieve themselves pre check in. Therefore the deposit is a scam. Our dogs did not destroy any of the already delapiated furniture. They did not urinate or deficate on the floors. Our dogs are more well behaved than most children (no offense). Most adults have a tendency to be more destructive during their stay.||The room was not cleaned to begin with. The floors were filthy, there were stains on the walls and the mattress. The place seems to have not been serviced in awhile.||||DO NOT NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, RIPPPED OFF AND STAY IN FILTH.

Definitely would not stay here again, the check in was confusing and difficult. Once we got to our room there was no parking available on the property. The room was not clean, there was a tiny sheet on a mattress that looked like someone may have bled out on it, stains everywhere. A/c is ineffective and loud. Seems like there’s black mold on the ceiling. Dark, and dirty. The ONLY bright side is how close it is to the beach, and near by shops. Water pressure in the dirty shower is great also. Spend the extra $50 and go to a nicer place.

The golden sands resort motel was just what we were looking for. The motel is very big and has all that you need for an enjoyable stay. It included extra blankets and towels, cookware and it has a great pool. The location could not have been better, right on the beach and surrounded by tons of delicious restaurants, ice cream shops, and more. Doug at the front desk was a delight to talk to, very happy and accommodating to anything we might need for the room. The picture is the view from the balcony. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Would recommend to all. 😊

Our family has been coming here for 25 years and the location is absolutely amazing. My children both learned to swim in the pool here and the Golden Sands hold a special place in my heart. I highly suggest that the people that own these rooms take a good look at housekeeping.
The fan over the beds was so filthy that we couldn’t even turn it on.
The coffee mugs hadn’t been washed.
The Air conditioning unit is so dirty that My husband had to clean it himself so that we could use it as it was incredibly hot.
The bedding was old and smelled like dust. The mattresses on the beds are equivalent to a crappy RV mattress.
Many of the lamp posts around the site were burnt out And the grounds were filthy. There was garbage everywhere, piled up leaves and debris, and the pool was not cleaned overnight.

There was no security cameras on site. During our stay here this summer, a lovely couple from Montana were there purchasing a bike for their disabled brother, and it was stolen out of the back of their truck while we were sleeping. This was a little unnerving.

Beware when booking here as we reserved a Lake front room and when we arrive, they did not have this available and we were placed in the Courtyard..
We are so torn as we love the location. If the owners to these rooms are reading this, please do some work on your rooms so that we can enjoy the place we love and come back. đŸ™đŸ»

In their current state, I would say these rooms are not worth more than $90 a night

Other than great location, I really can’t say anything good! The room is ok but the bed is RV quality. We stayed here many years ago and thought it would be fine for a few nights but would never stay here again. The towels are of poor quality, the face cloths are fiber cloths and the bedding appears to be 20 years old and filthy. There is not a single security camera on the entire property. We spoke to a couple that had their disabled brother’s electric bike stolen off their truck in the middle of the night. The police told them that it was likely somebody who had previously stayed long term and knew there were no security cameras on the property.

I’m writing to express my deep frustration and disappointment with the service my spouse and I received upon arrival at your hotel. We arrived for check-in at 4:00 PM—your stated check-in time—only to be told our room was not ready and that there was nothing that could be done for us.

When we tried to discuss this with the front desk agent (an older woman), she responded by raising her voice, turning her back to us, and dismissively saying, “We can’t do anything for you, come back at 4:30, it might be ready then.” This level of unprofessionalism and rudeness is completely unacceptable, especially given that we traveled a significant distance to get here and paid well over the standard rate due to the long weekend.

We hadn’t even seen the room at that point, and frankly, after this kind of treatment, our expectations are understandably low. This is not the experience we anticipated, nor is it the level of service any guest should receive—especially not at these rates.

We will not be staying here again, and we will be sharing this experience with others so they can make an informed decision. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as your staff’s behavior and the lack of basic courtesy at check-in are entirely unacceptable.

We stayed here for my mother-in-laws Funeral, it was a disaster from the day I booked it, front desk lady was ignorant on the phone and when we got there, it was run down and dirty, there is black mold in the bathroom and we were not able to shower, the air conditioner stunk when you turned it on, and the pool is NOT heated, it was colder than the lake and we had to stuff a towel in the blinds to have some privacy as they were broken, I have emailed the "Resort" no response, Expedia has reached out, no response, I have moved forward with another agency as I believe we should be refunded for our stay... Horrible, will never stay here again EVER!!! Unacceptable for the $400.00 we paid for 2 nights and we spent as little time there as possible

We had a 5 day stay booked recently and my husband had work come up that we couldn’t get around. I called to find out what the cancellation fee would be if we chose to cancel, or if we could move the dates. The staff I spoke too had no answers for me, was very short with me and not personable at all. I expressed that nothing she said was actually helpful to my questions and she said “well I’d have to contact my boss and find out” so that was fine, I gave her my name and number. She called me back THIRTY minutes later telling me she needed a cc for the cancellation fee. She hadn’t even told me the fee still at this point. I had to call my husband for the cc number so asked her about moving the dates so I wasn’t calling him multiple times interrupting his work day.. she then informed me that she had already cancelled our stay and it was already rebooked so changing days wasn’t an option. I was quite upset and explained AGAIN that I wanted to know both things so that I could make the decision on what we would do with our reservation. Her response was “oh well I guess you weren’t clear”
 now I’ve worked in customer service my entire life. I’m not an unreasonable person and I understand that mistakes happen. I would have been happy with a simple apology for the misunderstanding, regardless of it was sincere lol. But the complete lack of empathy like it was my fault and not hers was ridiculous. She was very rude and spoke to me like the entire thing was my fault. |The same staff then contacted my husband the day after our reservation was supposed to be to tell him we missed our reservation. He was at work and busy so I called her back and said this is the same reservation that YOU cancelled on us and told us that we couldn’t have because you rebooked it. Her response was “oh yes, I wonder why my system says this. Well they didn’t show, do you want it back?” |Still not an ounce of accountability or apology.
