Terrible communication. If you don't already know people in the hockey community and hear things through word of mouth, you won't be informed about anything going on at the rink. They don't send out emails informing parents of their child's schedule and they don't even reply to messages. They don't inform parents about tryout eligibility until after the requirement has passed. This organization expects parents to pay hundreds in Hockey registration fees before September 1st, but refuses to tell house league parents when their children will be practicing and playing. Instead we are supposed to continue checking the website daily. My son's first house league skate was posted on the calendar 4 days prior to it starting. How can parents be expected to plan their children's activities? We missed deadlines to sign our children up for other Fall sports because we had to wait for Fort Erie Hockey to get around to informing us when our child would be playing. Hockey registration has been on the decline in Fort Erie and it is very clear to see why. So many parents that I talk to are frustrated with the lack of communication and the complete disorganization of this sport in Fort Erie, but it seems to be the accepted norm in this town.
