Been a transit-goer daily for six years, I use it for work, school, errands, everything. I live in central Halifax next to main bus routes that are supposed to come often (every 15-30min), but especially lately, about 1/3 of buses are over 20 minutes late, or don't show up at all, with no explanation. Buses over an hour delayed are a common occurrence. Had a driver pass by about twenty (obviously visible) people waiting in the rain late on Christmas Eve, with an almost empty bus. Had another driver YELL at me for not having my phone ready with my ticket upon my first step on. Seen fights, slurs being thrown at people, whatever. I've had many late calls into work after leaving plenty of time in advance. I've sent in many, many complaints over the years. I check Twitter, Google Maps, Transit, and the official Halifax Transit app every time a bus doesn't show, and there is NEVER, EVER any explanation. I pay for a pass every single month, and have for years. Everyone I know who uses transit is at their wit's end. If you want to get anywhere ever, give yourself at least two extra hours on top of when you think you need to leave. It's not a fault of the drivers - this is a systematic issue.

I board bus everyday and this is the second time I suffered through teasing. I boarded bus, on the next stop Some teenagers boarded too and the time they came at back they started teasing me right in front of my face and then they started abusing me.I was ignoring and suddenly one of them touched me at my neck which was not acceptable so I said like why you guys are touching and the girl started shouting without no reason at me to save herself and her friends. I told the bus driver which he already was aware of , but he too ignored. So , I want to ask now that is this safe to travel with these kind of teasing where bus driver ignores after watching all this..No more safe to travel in buses

During holidays, buses are never on time. Sometimes, they don’t even show up. It’s summer, and half the buses don’t have working AC.

Brand new route changes and we're still stuck waiting over an hour for a single bus when their own schedule says two in a span of an hour. It's completely unreliable. It's not the drivers fault. It's all on management and upper management. So much for a public service people can trust and rely on to get to work on time.

If I had a dollar for every time a scheduled bus didn't show up leaving me stranded for an hour waiting on the next one I'd be rich enough to afford cabbing everywhere. Can't believe you're raising the cost of fare on your garbage service again as well.

Absolutely abysmal. Rarely on time, being late is one thing but being EARLY should never even be an option especially with how unreliable the real-time tracking is across numerous apps, if an app tells me to be at a stop at a certain time and I get there at that time I shouldn't look at my phone and see it left 3 minutes early. Most of us don't have the luxury of standing around for the 10 minute window a bus MAY appear in, especially during the colder months.

And nobody should be missing a connecting bus by 10-20 seconds, drivers should have access to arrival and departure times of other busses on their route or ways to communicate with nearby busses at the minimum.

A hailing system of some kind for passengers would also be ideal for folks who are near to busses but are running slightly late.

Drivers are okay... but driver awareness needs to be improved upon, I've seen too many pull away with folks right at the door and a couple start driving away while older folks/folks with mobility issues aren't properly seated yet.

Digitization: 0 ⭐ | Service Experience: 5⭐ | Bus Condition: 4⭐

Like my every past experience of visiting a new city or country. I transformed myself as a local person and enjoy taking local bus rides over expensive luxury cab service.😜

On my recent visit to Halifax I inquired about the Airport shuttle at the arrival gate and luckily met a super enthusiastic officer in his early 60s who took out his time and explained to me the bus routes and numbers which will drive me to my prebooked hostel. The experience I had interacting with him was super informative and I can clearly see the pride he's taking being Nova Scotian and guide me through his home city places.

Upon passing through the customs immigration office the bus stop of Airport shuttle 320 was on scheduled time. The only drawback I faced was "Cash to Ticket". The bus wasn't equipped with a digital tap machine (I.e. we have in TTC) or any mode of digital payment won't be acceptable.

Apart from this the whole journey was super cool and filled with numerous scenic views which was so eye catchy that 1 hr 37 minutes bus journey won't feel tiresome at all.

I would like to recommend Halifax Transit to take a step towards digitization and install a digital card aka tap system in buses to save some paper and make our planet a green one.

I paid $4.25 Adult fare on the airport shuttle bus.
