Michelle met us on arrival and was very kind and friendly like everyone on Hornby Island. The accomadations were exactly as described. The top floor felt like a " birds nest" parked in the trees with a large patio to enjoy the evening sun to the West. Fully equipped with everything one needs for a peaceful, quiet relaxing holiday.

Let me start by saying my family and I stayed for 3 nights over Easter. We rented all three suites.
After corresponding and booking the 3 nights over the internet and phone with Michelle the first thing she wanted to know was when I would send her the 50% deposit. This I did promptly. Then I received a tediously long set of rules for her accommodation along with a request to send it to everyone who was coming. I thought this was a little over the top as this was not the first time my family has ever rented accomodation and we pretty much know how to behave and cleanup after ourselves. Anyway it sounded like the place was well set up and I thought perhaps she was just a bit OCD and just carried on. She then contacted me a few days before we to arrive and asked when I would be making the final payment. So 100% before we even step foot on the property.
Upon arriving she greeted us and once again wanted to make sure everyone had a copy of her rules. Fine!
When we entered the suites to our surprise nothing was like it was described. There were no queen beds only doubles. All the comforters and pillows were from another era. The 2 downstairs suites had no cleaning facilities for in suite cooking and the shared bathrooms were basically a joke. One had a big soaker tub but the rules are not to use any water. The other had the vanity, toilet and shower all in one room with no window so as soon as you showered everything was soaked and steamed up. It was the only one with a fan. However if you left this fan on she would text you and then come into the suite unannounced and turn it off saying it was a tremendous waste of electricity.
Now to talk about the upper luxury suite well it had a bathroom with no walls and a claw foot tub that looked scary to get into with the grime on it and once again you were not to use the water as the septic system couldn't handle it Oh and by the way when you sat at the dining table you could see the person in the bathroom. Really back to earth.
There was not one oven between the 3 suites and the only one you could wash dishes in was the upstairs suite.
I could go on but there is no point I would just never stay here again or recommend this to anyone.
Michelle seems to want the money but not provide anything in return. It was very expensive and very shabby.

An excellent Hornby experience in a "typical" Hornby Island abode. This HOME is a maze of amazing rooms, cubby hole lofts, and unique bath/washroom area. Moments from the ferry landing and the Thatcher Public and restaurant. Relaxing, quiet, well equipped, did I say relaxing? Bird songs by day peppered with the visit of baby fawns, and an inviting fire pit ( in season) or a good DVD by night. Michelle is a host deserving an award of excellence. Consider this get stay when you visit this wonderous island- really.

In Jan 21th,2018,my wife and I lived here because the ferry stopped caused by terrible weather.We feel comfortable and the owner is very nice.
