My rating is based on specific elements of my visit. Your results may vary.

The paint in the bathroom was left partially finished.

The bathroom door would stick.

They provide 4 complimentary cups of coffee. The coffee in my room was strong and the one sugar packet and one creamer per cup was not enough.

With the window closed at night the room heated up and I had to turn on tbe ac. The remote unit was missing the battery cover and the batteries had to be manipulated under the tape to get it to work.

The room itself is a reasonable size and has table with standard electric plugs multiple usb types.

Everything in the room worked. A mini fridge is also supplied.

The room was clean, the water pressure was acceptable.

The man at the desk while polite asked me three times if I had a car. He initially required me to present a physical card for a deposit. ( I have a digital card only). He decided he would charge me at checkout if there were damages.

My room was in the back side. Very quiet.

The TV had cable channels and really bad sound.

The price was a bit more than what I typically spend. I would expect better for the price.

This place has definitely gone downhill since new owners took over. I used to stay here like a dozen times a year but last few times I came we’re not good. First time I was below the “family suite” which I’m pretty sure is lived in and there’s absolutely no sound proofing. Smoking cigarettes, laughing and loud chatting went on til after 10pm directly above my room. But this time was much worse.. I had to get a “budget room” due to last minute booking and it was disgustingly dirty. I killed a total of 3 mosquitos and a giant flying beetle dropped onto my bed from the ceiling, the sheets were stained, the baseboards and walls were dirty, the floor has clearly never been mopped (as you can see from my feet) and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. I barely slept. I booked 2 nights (non refundable/third party app) and left after 1. Not to mention “budget” was 120/night.. this should’ve been no more than 80 due to the state it was in. This is pretty disappointing because last owners were so great and the rooms were always very clean. Then the cherry on top would be a text I received the day after checking out for some make up residue left on a towel (also concerning that they’re not washing their towels/linens in bleach anyway as hotels normally do). It was honestly insane. I will not be back and would not recommend.

We came back to this hotel twice — it’s a great place for the price, especially in an area where everything is insanely expensive! The welcome is warm, the rooms are clean and clearly recently renovated. Honestly, unbeatable value for money around here. We were surprised by some of the negative reviews — for us, it’s a solid 10/10!

I was pleasantly surprised, room clean. If you can request ask to be in the back as there is a bit of noise around the area.
The gentleman I believe Al was very lovely.
it took him a bit long to process me and spent time trying to help another lady. I didn’t feel he had to explain to me all the charges etc.

"Terrible Experience - No Flexibility for Elderly Guest with Medical Needs"

"I am extremely disappointed with our experience at the Harbour Light Motel. We booked a room for my 75-year-old father-in-law who had just gotten off the ferry after an 12-hour wait and desperately needed to rest and charge his medical air supply machine which was dying.

Upon arrival, they refused to give him the room because our credit card wouldn't authorize for the deposit. We offered a $200 cash or debit deposit, but the person at the desk, who stated he was in a rush to leave his shift, refused both options. The manager on the phone also would not make an exception.

Their reasoning was that they've had issues with guests damaging rooms in the past. To assume everyone is untrustworthy and to deny an elderly person with a medical necessity a room after he'd been traveling all day is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of empathy and poor customer service.

We were left scrambling to find other accommodation late at night, causing unnecessary stress and hardship. I would strongly advise against booking here if you anticipate needing any flexibility or understanding."
***Update: my father in law has been taken to the hospital due to to his lack of oxygen that he could've gotten if they got a room time to charge his machine. We did finally get a room down the street that was ok taking a debit deposit.
