Just stayed at the Belvedere for a Birthday weekend staycation. We were definitely underwhelmed by the property. It is looking very tired and definitely needs some updating. I am aware that an old property like this is hard to maintain and expensive to renovate, but it is time.
The suite was impeccably clean, had decent towels, and a comfy bed. But, it also had pillows that were well past their natural life, cheap toiletries, and a bathroom that was a shocker to say the least. It was not just dated (violently orange/red tiles) but the tiles were cracked in places and 4 foot tub had seen better days. The whole bathroom was 4' by 5'6"! It was only possible to sit on the toilet sideways unless you put your feet on the tub! There is plenty of space to expand it as there is a little kitchenette beside it. Together those spaces could make a decent bathroom.
Staff were polite and accommodating, but I will definitely wait for renovations before I stay again.

Beautiful, quaint Victorian house, tucked in a sea of green, surrounded by heritage mansions. The rooms are large, bright and clean - antiques and furniture will take you back in time for sure.
The continental breakfast was served with generous portions of toasted English muffins, raspberry jam, cheese and an absolutely gourmet coffee!
Parking is available on the spot, and that's really helpful considering the 5-10 mins walking distance to downtown.
Definitely a return in the future!

The rooms are filled with antique furniture that do not seem to match, but that does not take away from the experience.

The bathroom was small and the toilet is jammed in a place where people with long legs will need to get creative.

I had to sit sideways or put my legs in the bathtub... It was worth a few laughs.

Wonderful! I was making the big move to Kingston this fall, and couldn't take possession of my new apartment until a week after I had to start at my new workplace. The Hotel Belvedere made me feel right at home!

The room was large, very clean, and very comfortable. The location is also amazing - 10 minutes to market square and the shops of Brock and Princess Street, and equally close to Queen's main campus and the waterfront!

The breakfast in the morning was a really nice touch, especially when done in the lounge with a good paper to read. The staff are also amazing, kudos for them for being so welcoming and caring to all of their guests!

Definitely recommending the Hotel Belvedere to all friends and family that I know that will be visiting Kingston!

Great location and lovely staff. The hotel is old and beautiful and our room was huge (with gorgeous high ceilings) and clean. Breakfast was an English muffin, some cheese, a lovely glass of orange juice, & plenty of coffee. And there was fruit laid out. A small breakfast was perfect, as we were off to a Food Tour that started at 11:00. (On day 2, we were able to eat in our room while we finished packing. Excellent!)
In our hunt for a hotel, we were looking for somewhere that wasn't as expensive as the chain hotels and we found it. But I suppose it was a "you get what you pay for" kind of experience? The water hardly trickled out of the shower. The towels & toilet paper were the cheapest there is. One jar of 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner was provided. The hairdryer was ineffective. Interestingly, there was a second little sink in a little closet nook on the other side of the room. I was excited to be able to brush my teeth while my travelling companion showered. Nope. Only scalding hot water (too hot to wash your hands with) came out of the tap.
I'll go back, I'll just arrive with slightly lower expectations than I did this time.
Addendum: I was going to rate the hotel 3 stars. But now that I've read through my review, I'm going to go for 4 instead. It did the trick.

The place has a ton of potential but feels stuck in 2002. The internet was definitely not high speed as advertised. My partner and I booked the place for a working retreat and were stymied by this issue and we ended up leaving a day early.

The room itself was nice and the breakfast was pleasant. Some small upgrades would go a long way to renew this historical gem of a property for another decade of guests visiting Kingston.

The location was perfect but the house was old and dusty under the dim light. The room has very basic amenities and the washroom looks untidy, tap water runs yellow and the shower fauset dirty.
Then I found a long scratch on the back of my car after one night’s parking, what a terrible experience!!!
