This is a great hotel. It is in the middle of vibrant downtown Vancouver. To one side is high end shopping and on the other side across the square is more mainstream retail. The hotel is very nice the rooms are great. All in all this is a wonderful spot to enjoy yourself in Vancouver.

The Hotel Vancouver is always a very positive experience, whether staying at the hotel or enjoying the restaurant or bar. But today's experience was exceptional. While checking in, Lizzie noticed that I had made my reservation for the wrong day. In the midst of a busy check-in rush, she very calmly, graciously, and efficiently fixed everything, got me a room and made it all seem like it was the easiest thing ever. Great customer service is really rare these days, making it a huge differentiator for any business. She is a keeper! Thank you Lizzie!

An institution that has faded significantly

Some rooms are sympathetically modernized so that the historical character is retained. Other rooms are just old. Warm rooms suffer from condensation. Rooms without condensation simply will not heat above 18 degrees without a plug-in heater

Service is slow. Do you need that heater? Be prepared to make multiple calls and visits to front desk. You'll have to wait because only two people work the desk during busy times

Everything is dustier than it should be. Everything is more expensive than it should be

At some point trading on historical charm and location will get old. We're at that tipping point

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel Vancouver! From the moment I walked in, the staff's warm welcome made me feel right at home. The elegant and well-appointed rooms provided a comfortable retreat, and the stunning views of the cityscape were a treat to wake up to each morning. The attention to detail throughout the hotel was impressive, from the exquisite decor to the impeccable cleanliness.

We felt so cared for during our three-night stay. We had to transfer rooms on day 2 and they were incredibly gracious about it and made the move simple and completely unobtrusive.

We took advantage of the gym daily, and adored the breakfast buffet at Notch8 afterwards. The indoor pool was also nice but we wished there were a functioning hot tub as the pool area is cold. There is a sauna in each changing room though, so that was lovely for warming up.

Walls are pretty thin at the hotel, so recommend bringing good ear plugs.

Small bathrooms, hairdryer was broken, bed had a broken slat.
But the lobby dogs were great!!
